They've kept Dan for observation until the results come back, and given him some medication, one of those oxygen tubes, and an IV.
Cat and Louise come up in the morning. Phil's actually pretty happy they're there.
Dan is so tired. He seems really worn-out.
Phil looks at him sleeping and brushes a finger on his cheekbone.
"I don't know what's happening. But I promise, you and I, we'll push through. You'll be okay. And if not, well, we'll carry on."
--------
The test results are in. Dan's sitting on the doctors table, and Phil is leaning against it.
"Well boys, I have good news"
"It's just some pretty bad pneumonia. I'll give you a z-pack, and you'll be released later today or tomorrow morning. I'm certain that you should be able to fly out by next week."
They both breathe a sigh of relief.
"Thank you", they say in unison.
The doctor walks out, and slowly, Dan gets down with Phil's help.
Dan throws his arms over Phil's shoulders and says into his neck, "Jesus. Jesus fucking Christ Phil."
And they both start laugh-crying.
--------
And after that, things finally took a turn.
Over three years battling cancer...
It was a long time.
They were so, so tired.
And so they spent their days, doing nothing more than be grateful.
Lily eventually was adopted, but requested to visit them many times during that year.
They adopted two lovely children, one boy, Devon, and a girl, Harley.
Devon and Harley were raised in the outskirts of London, just like Dan wanted.
Yes, they did finally adopt a dog, although it was a pug, not a shibe.
Dan and Phil continued on with their content, and made a bigger fanbase from vlogging weekly.
And that's the end.
Or is it?
Reader, never let yourself be fooled by an author.
Because all good things must come to an end.
