"Cloud!" You knew that was Tifa, but you didn't know where she was. "Where have you been? Everyone has been so worried!"

True to his nature, Cloud just shrugged. "I had to go back to Midgar. And by the way... whose blood is in my reading room?"

Chiara sank in her seat, trying her best to hide.

"There was a banshee in your house," replied Tifa. "We killed it for you, don't worry."

"Banshees don't bleed."

"I know, Cloud. But you don't think anyone could get away from one without taking a few hits." Tifa crossed her arms (you were able to see her now).

Cloud let the matter drop after that, and sat at the table with Tifa for a bit before coming over to you. "You didn't think to clean up?" he asked.

You tried to think of how to answer that, but Yuffie said, "Sorry, Cloud. We were just in a hurry because we didn't think Chiara could walk and-" She put her hands over her mouth, realizing she'd just ratted her out. "Oops. Sorry."

Chiara winced, but Cloud said as stoically as usual, "I'm not upset. I just wish you'd cleaned up. It's unsanitary to leave blood like that; even a small amount."

You all nodded in understanding. "Why were you in Midgar, Mr. Strife?" asked Hope.

"Personal reasons. Which reminds me, midterms are today at two to make up for Tuesday. Thank goodness I'm back in time for Field Day."

That got your attention. "Field Day?" you inquired.

"It's a day where students and teachers get into teams based on their element and participate in sporting events," Lightning informed you. "It's on Saturday."

"So, we don't get to be in it," Yuffie stated more than asked.

"Unfortunately not, but there is another one in May that you'll be able to be a part of if you want," replied Lightning. "And you can always come watch."

"We'll be there," you agreed, without even asking Yuffie if she wanted to go or not.

The next day you walked into your Friday class and mentally prepared for your last exam of the week. There would be a written portion, then there was an outdoor one where you'd perform a random set of spells.

You and Brecken sat looking over the flash cards she'd made until the door opened and in walked Chiara, assisted by Noel. "You're early," you noted.

"Have to be," replied Noel. "I'm trying to get a final cram session in before class starts. I've been so busy, this test kinda snuck up on me." He sat the books he held on the table. "Good luck, Chiara," he said. "Even though I know you won't need it."

"They're dating," Brecken said to you, not even looking up from yet another issue of Evil Scientist Schiller.

"Really?" That was a match you'd never seen coming. "Since when?"

"First semester. Something about Noel falling for her. I haven't asked, really." She turned the page, as if she was just talking about the weather. "Oh, no way!"

"What? What happened?" you asked.

Brecken showed you the pages. "Schiller has a daughter."

"Um..." you scratched your head. "I'm not exactly up-to-date on my comic reading. Is that significant?"

You felt a hand on your shoulder that you knew was Chiara. "You might not want to get into this with her," she advised you.

So you went to your seat, and began going over spells in your head to make sure you knew them all. When the test started, you found out that you did. This only furthered your belief that you were born to do magic.
