Isabella's P.O.V
"You have to go on top, sweetie." Claire's over-glossed red lips formed a pout. Claire was the cheerleader underneath Ally, she would've been he first according to best friend Jillian, but she chipped one of her nails on the day before try-outs-- therefore, ruining her audition. Or something like that. And now, she was trying to convince me into climbing onto the top of the pyramid. Joy.
I just stood there, feeling incredibly uncomfortable in the uniform. A too-short blue skirt embroidered with gold glitter, the top a liner, cut of a little too short, and it was mandatory our hair had to have the blue ribbon in somewhere. I felt like a walking-doll.
"Why?" I questioned, trying not to sound rude. Claire's drawn on eyebrows drew together, "You're the lightest, you should feel honored."
Frankly, I didn't care if she told me I could have her daddy's mansion. I hated heights--more over, I hated falling.
I looked over at Brooke for help, she just shrugged and gestured to the girls positioning themselves on the backs of the girls at the bottom. A cold hand rested on my shoulder, "Go on, we won't let you fall." Ally assured me, flashing me her blinding white smile.
Why am I still unconvinced? I shook my head, and looked over in the direction of the basketball team. Most of them were lounging on the bleachers, the few on the court looked as if they were having a one-on-one game. Parker was one of them, juggling the ball in between both of his hands, contemplating. He was wearing the school uniform too, the dark blue cut off jersey with the number 7 and "Harrier's" on the chest. Parker turned in our direction and smiled at me before jogging towards the rest of the team.
I let out a puff of air, "Alright."
Ally's eyes lingered on me for an exhausting second, her sharp blue eyes looking over me thoughtfully. She flipped back her perfect black hair and grinned, "Great. Come on Claire, stop staring." She tapped Claire's shoulder meaningfully and pulled in to the rest of the girls. I grumbled to myself, and brought Parker's smiling face back to the forefront of my thoughts.
I took the first step onto the pyramid and then the 2nd, passing Brooke, the next, Hannah grabbed the bottom of my sneaker and shoved me upwards causing me to go off-balance. "Let me down--" I began to panic as Hannah kept pushing me forward, to position myself on Claire's hand. "Hannah! What the hell are you doing?!" Ally scolded from in front of us, throwing her hands on her small hips. I finally got to the top somehow, and then, they began chanting underneath me. I couldn't make sense of the words because I was still be jostled from below, and then--they moved to toss me skyward, when a pair of hands released their grip on me.
I ended up falling backwards, and hit the ground with a horrifying echo. In the blur of falling to the ground, the cheerleaders swarmed me like moths to light.
Hannah and Ally stood in the far corner of my vision, Ally shouting at her--Hannah shrugging, and sending me a skeptical look.
"Oh my god--can you hear me, Bella? Bella?" Brooke screeched shaking me, further. I was more embarrassed than hurt, nonetheless I could feel a nasty knot forming on the side of my head.
"Move."
I blinked trying to make out the masculine figure standing over top of the crouched girls around me. Several of them dispersed quickly and he brushed by the ones who wouldn't. "What happened? I saw her fall..." Parker muttered underneath his breath, his face leaning over mine--hair nearly brushing my face.
"She was climbing the pyramid, I think she was getting pushed too fast--and she lost her balance..." Brooke stammered, her face was white, like she'd seen a ghost. I know I didn't look that bad.
