Our Thanksgiving dinner isn't really a whole big thing. The only people who are usually at it are my mom's parents, my parents, and me. Last year, Hannah came, but the years before she had her family dinners the same night as mine and couldn't come. And Mackenzie's parents drive to her grandparents' place, which is a two hour drive away. They usually stay for like three days.

This Thanksgiving is going to be a lot different from the others. This year, I'm going to tell my parents that I have a boyfriend.... and he's going to be there. So yeah, definitely a big difference. I'm pretty sure my parents won't have a problem with it, especially considering how much they like Christian.

"Evan, your grandparents are on their way." My mom calls from the living room. I sigh and get out of bed. Don't get me wrong, I love my grandparents. I just know that they're going to be asking all kinds of questions, like how my classes are, what schools I'm looking at for college, and probably questions about my love life too. Which I'm definitely going to lie to them about.

I'll tell my parents about Christian, but I don't think I'm quite ready for my whole family to know. I don't know how my grandparents would take it, but they are kind of old fashioned, so I'm sure they wouldn't take it well.

"Come help me put out the dishes, Evan." My mom says from behind my door, knocking on it. "Your grandparents will be here any minute."

"Shouldn't you have already set everything up then?" I grumble quietly, getting off my bed.

"I heard that." My mom replies and I wince, opening my bedroom door. She's standing with her hand on her hip, looking at me expectantly.

"C'mon, mom! We gotta set the stuff up." I say, feigning enthusiasm. I take her by the elbow and start marching to the kitchen.

"Is Christian still coming?" My mom asks a little bit later as we're putting some dishes on the kitchen table.

"He should be." I answer casually, looking towards the door.

I purse my lips and shake my head, finishing up with the dishes. The doorbell rings and my eyes widen. It's either my grandparents or Christian, I'm hoping for the latter.

I beat my mom to the door and swing it wide open, my face falling a bit as I see my grandparents. I try to hide my disappointment, though, as I greet them and help my grandma inside.

My mom and dad come out and start talking to them, leading them to the kitchen while I stand in the living room near the door. Moments later, the doorbell starts to rings again and I smile widely, knowing it's Christian. I open the door quickly, letting him in.

"Hey." I say, kind of awkwardly. I'd like to greet him with a kiss or something, but I know I shouldn't. Not when my parents and grandparents are just a room over.

Christian smirks. "Hey, Evan. Where should I put this?" He asks, raising his hands up, bringing my attention to the pie he's carrying.

"Oh! You didn't have to bring anything..." I tell him, furrowing my eyebrows.

"I know, but I wanted to." He answers simply.
