It can be the ghost of a victim, the ghost of the better sister, the ghost of a pirate ship, you-name-it. If you see it, or a vision it sends you, you should say your goodbyes.
That is, unless the Winchesters appear on your doorstep. Then you should go grab the salt and kick some ass.
