A Life in the Dark

Long shadows strewn across the walls,
Leading into pure darkness.
There was no light,
No possible way out.

An imagination of devilish creatures,
One of the most frightening moments.
Walking down the hallways,
Not knowing what to expect.

What do I do, where do I go?
There is no escape, as the shadows tell me.
I'm not supposed to be here,
Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.
So much is happening right now;
I simply cannot keep track anymore.

This place is exactly similar to Hell itself.
How can one be so alone yet not at all?
The lights start to flicker.
Is this the end, or only the beginning?

Seconds start to tick by,
Suddenly every noise growing louder.
Is this what depression feels like?
The helplessness, and having no faith.

I wish to run far away from this place,
But how do you escape the internal thoughts that threaten to steal your life from your tightened grasp?
How can you run from something that was once angelic?
