Lauren peeked through the tiny peephole on the metal door. Her jaw instinctively dropped at what she saw. "Holy shit."
"What?" Camila piped up in a frightened tone.
Lauren's fingers hastily worked at the locks, ignoring her girlfriends question in her panicked state. The older girl threw the door open in one swift movement and Camila's eyes widened in shock.
"Holy shit," Camila mumbled.
-
Camila stood in shock as she took in the girls appearance across the threshold.
"Dinah," Lauren cautiously began as she took a step forward.
The Polynesian was standing in the hallway with tears streaming down her face. Her cheek was splotched with a dark bruise with blood dripping from her cheekbone. Her usually lively brown eyes were seemingly void as she stood in the center of the doorway gasping for breath, her chest heaving as the tears continued to roll.
"Hey, I'm here..." Lauren stated as she slowly approached her best friend. Dinah's eyes locked on the raven haired girl. She froze for a second before her arms were flung around Lauren's neck. The older girl didn't hesitate to wrap her arms around the taller girls waist as Dinah burrowed her head into Lauren's neck, her tears only increasing with the contact. "Hey shh, it's okay, I've got you," Lauren comforted as she led the Polynesian inside.
Camila shut the door, putting the locks in place before following the two into the living room. They were sat on the couch now, Dinah was still crying in Lauren's arms as they hugged on the couch.
"Did you lock the third lock?" Lauren questioned the brunette.
"You usually don't-"
"Can you?" Lauren pleaded with her eyes. She motioned down to Dinah. "It makes her feel safer."
Camila nodded before she trotted toward the front door, she twisted the top lock into place with a little force before she ran back into the living room. Lauren locked their gazes, Camila simply nodded in response before she took a seat beside the crying girl.
"Tell me what happened?" The older girl softly questioned as she rubbed comforting circles on her back.
Dinah inhaled a heavy breath, trying to find her ability to speak through the tears. "H-he... I-"
"Take your time," Lauren soothed.
"H-he... Chance got home... drunk.... We fought." Dinah heaved against Lauren's neck. Camila watched helplessly as her girlfriend comforted the taller girl. "I-I broke up with him."
"You did?" Lauren asks incredulously, jade orbs widening before glancing at her girlfriend.
Dinah simply nods against Lauren's neck, "I-I wasn't happy. You... You said I deserve more." The younger girl heaves.
"Damn right you do."
"Did he hit you?" Camila questions in a small voice as she looks at the blood running across the younger girls cheek.
When Dinah nods in response, Lauren physically stills. "N-no, Laur." Dinah mutters in a warning tone.
"I'll fucking kill him."
"N-no. It's all done. I'm done."
"That doesn't give him the right to hit a woman. Especially my best friend." Lauren growls as her grip tightens on Dinah.
"I'm f-free, Lauren."
"Thank God," Lauren mumbles after a moment of gathering her thoughts. "I'll go over and get your stuff tomorrow. You can stay here for as long as you need."
