Lauren didn't remember much of being hauled to the hospital in the ambulance. The only thing that kept her mind grounded on the journey was Camila's fingers tightly entwined with hers. The paramedic encouraged the smaller girl not to move, not that it was a problem. She laid with her head facing her girlfriend, and Lauren's hand laced tightly through hers.

The paramedics rush Camila's gurney through the emergency entrance, doctors filling in the spaces around Lauren asking a million questions a second.

"I'm here, baby." Lauren whispers to her girlfriend over the chaos as they continue rolling Camila through the maze of hallways.

"Actually ma'am," a blonde doctor tugs on Lauren's arm, encouraging her off to the side.

Lauren watches them continue to roll her girlfriend away in annoyance, "Excuse me I need to be with her-"

"No you need to be checked out. There's blood on the side of your head that needs to be looked at, I'd be happy to help you out really quick and get you back to your girlfriend." The woman looks up at Lauren with a quirked brow, her hand still wrapped around Lauren's bicep as if she can tell Lauren's thinking about running after Camila.

"I can get it checked out later."

"No I don't think so, now."

The green eyed girl lets out an annoyed groan before reluctantly nodding and following the woman to a bed in the middle of the emergency room. Lauren takes a seat while the woman disappears momentarily to get the supplies she needs.

"Can you hurry up?" Lauren huffs as she kicks her legs back and forth under the hospital bed.

The doctor comes back carrying things in her hands and a light chuckle escaping her lips. "You aren't going to want to be in there for awhile so you might as well not rush."

"I need to be there for my girlfriend."

"She's getting checked out, the girl is pretty banged up if you hadn't noticed." The doctor responds as she drops her things beside the dark haired girl.

Lauren catches sight of her name-tag before the blonde disappears to do who knows what behind the curtain. "And you don't think I should be there for that?" Lauren calls out in confusion as she looks over the things beside her that seem foreign to her.

The woman returns a moment later, pulling on gloves. "They're looking at the damage, she's going to be in a lot of pain in those moments and there will be nothing you can do."

"You know for a doctor, you're not the best at comfort."

She chuckles before resting a hand on Lauren's shoulder, "You won't want to be in there when the love of your life is hurting and you can't help. I'm trying to help you."

Lauren doesn't respond, stuck in her head and before she knows it, the doctor is sterilizing the wound on her head, instantly making the green eyed girl suck in a harsh breath. "Shit," The word quickly splutters out of Lauren's mouth as she flinches slightly.

"Sorry."

After Lauren adjusts to the stinging she quietly questions the doctor. "What're they going to do to her?"

"A lot of poking and prodding," The blonde sighs. "They need to assess the damage before figuring out further treatment."

"Further treatment?"

"Medicine, surgery-"

"SURGERY?!"

"Well we don't know, that's what they're trying to figure out." The doctor quickly corrects herself, watching Lauren release a deep breath of air in relief. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you like that."
