Mommy - Lauren

Lauren's POV:

I look at the date. It's the 12th of December 2025. The day she comes home. It's been 3 long years without her. My wife Y/N has been serving in Iraq for the past two years and today was the day she was finally coming home to me and our two and a half year old daughter Audrey. Over facetime I've tired to tell Y/N about her Audrey but she always gets called away. I've shown Audrey pictures of Y/N and she's so amazed by her. She always smiles and stares at her photo for hours. I'm glad she got some of her features like her thick hair and cute button nose. But she has my eyes which I'm thankful for.

Last night, I made the mistake of telling her that we are seeing mama tomorrow. She was up all night until I gave her some milk and she became sleepy instantly. I woke up with someone lying on my stomach and softly hitting my cheeks.

"Mommy gets up pwease" I open my eyes and smile at Audrey.

"And why should I do that princesa?"

"Cause I hunwry mommy"

"Let's go see if Aunt Ally has made something" I pick her up and she rests her head on my shoulder indicating she's still tired. Hopefully she'll sleep on the trip there. I walk down the stairs and see all the girls in the kitchen. Audrey cuddles into my neck as I sit down next to D and Mani.

"How's our little princess this morning?" Mani asks prying her off of me as Audrey has been super clingy the past couple of day.

"Aunt Mani see mama day?"

"No sweetie, you and mommy are seeing mama. We will all see her later"

"Okie dokie"

"Are you excited to see Y/N Lo?" Camz asks.

"Who dat mommy?" Audrey asks confused.

"That's mama's name babe"

"Oh, it pwetty" She turns and starts to eat the small waffle Ally puts in front of her as I get a cup of coffee

"I'm excited but nervous too. What if she doesn't want to have a child? or gets mad because I didn't tell her?"

"Lo I know my best friend like the back of my hand and she's wanted a family ever since she met you" D says reassuringly.

"Okay D" I eat my breakfast then I take Audrey to get ready.

I opened Audrey's closet and got out a specialised printed t-shirt that says 'Hey I just met you & this is crazy, my name's Audrey and I'm your baby', patterned tights and her mini doc martins. I did her hair in a french braid and she looked adorable.

"Okay baby wanna go see your Aunts while I get changed" She jumps up and down before falling over on her butt. I giggle and call for D to be at the bottom of the stairs as Audrey climbs down.

(just imagine this but climbing down)

I smile and quickly get changed into Y/N's favourite outfit of mine, which is my favourite the 1975 shirt, leather jacket, black jeans and combat boots. I put my hair in a pony tail and put minimal makeup on. I look at the time and we were supposed to leave 10 minutes ago. I grab my phone and race downstairs.

"Okay princess let's go, we're late" I walk into the lounge room and Audrey runs to me.

"Good luck Lo and everything will be okay" D says as I nod and grab my purse and car keys.
