A coral snake is venomous. A milk snake is not. That's why milk snakes imitate coral snakes. However the imitation is not perfect. The coral snake has red touching yellow and the milk snake has red touching black. I know two rhymes to remember which is which. 'Red and yellow kill a fellow, red and black venom lack.' The other one is 'If red touches yellow it can kill a fellow if red touches black it's a friend of jack.'
