A love of learning and a love life,
Combine to free your life from strife.
For how can learners cease to love,
The thing that holds us up above?
Uplifted from ourselves so high,
We look upon a cloudless sky;
A sheet of shining shimmering blue,
That ne'er ceases the heart to woo.
A word, a line, an epic song,
With all my heart to this I long:
To capture in a single sound,
The world around me, so profound!
The hope, the love, the life, the joy,
The things so easy to destroy.
Caught evermore in words so fine,
That I could ne'er call them mine.
These words belong to everyone,
Who lives beneath our golden sun;
From town to beach and beach to sea,
None of this belongs to me.
I love the world around me so,
That I could ne'er let it go,
And everything it means to me,
So here I'll rest, eternally.
And in the world I'll place these words,
Soaring up among the birds,
So anyone who sees them fly,
Can come and join me in the sky.
