Awake to the cloying scent
Old pine and tattered satin
Beleaguered flesh
Midnight worms
Soft earth
Fetid
Too late
To ring the bell
A second chance lost
Soon to live as something
Not quite the human I was
But first to taste of those who wait
The listeners at my grave
