Chapter 23 Mackenzie's POV

"Now listen, Mackenzie," my older sister bent down to talk to me face to face, "Mom might not be feeling well, so she might be sleeping when we're there, ok princess?" I nodded sheepishly and hid behind her as she stood up. "Hold my hand Kristen," I said shyly. "Ok, come on, don't be scared," she said squeezing my hand. We walked into the room together.

Mommy was sitting up and not asleep! "Mommy!" I screamed. I ran over to her and have her a massive hug. "Hello my gorgeous girl," she said to me. I turned around and smiled at my sister. "Come and have a hug," Mom said to Kristen. She put Freya in her car seat an walked over to Mom. "I'm so glad you're ok," she said, "When did you wake up?" Mom looked at the clock then at the nurse who had just walked in. "It was a couple of days ago. We did try to call you but it went to voicemail," the nurse said. I nodded, at least it wasn't ages ago. "When can she come home?" Kristen asked. The nurse thought about it for a while. "Well, she's broken her ankle but everything else seems to have healed," the nurse replied, "so my guess is, whenever you feel ready. I would need to make sure the doctor was happy, but that seems like a good plan."

Kristen gave Freya to Mom and got out her phone. "I'm just gonna call Rob, be back soon," she said before walking out. I smiled at my Mom and lay on the bed with her and fell asleep.

Kristen's POV

"Hey Rob?" I said. I needed to tell him about my Mom. "Hey Kris, what's up? You sound kinda... Torn?" he asked. I loved the sound of his voice when he was concerned. "I'm at the hospital, I took Freya for a check up and she's fine. Then we went to see my Mom and she had woken up. The nurse said she could go home when we are happy, I don't know what I do," I said. "Ah, well. I don't mind, does your Mom want to come home now?" Rob asked. I could hear in his voice he was trying to work something out. "I don't know, I guess she might," I said. I didn't want to hurt Rob, I had one chance to get back with him before I blow it completely. "Go and ask your Mom," Rob said. I didn't hang up, I just put it to my ear and stuck my head around the door. "When do you want to come home?" I asked. She sat there, smiling. "You've got plans later, haven't you?" Mom said. I nodded, looking down. "And tomorrow," I added. "Go on, go on your date and I'll see you on Monday evening," Mom said. I smiled, "Thanks Mom," I said.

I walked back out into the corridor. "Rob?" I said, making him jump. "My Mom said to go out today and tomorrow and she'll come home on Monday evening," I said smiling as I said it. "Really? Are you ok with that?" he asked. "Yes, now just hurry up and get over here!" I said. We were about to hang up when, "Hey, Kris?" Rob said. "Yeah?" I replied. He waited a few seconds before saying, "I love you."
