"Look, I'm sorry about yesterday, okay? I shouldn't have asked why you're here."

"Save it, Walter. You aren't the first to be sorry."

"...um...hey, did you hear? The doctor said that-"

"-your legs are healing fine and you'll be out of here wearing casts in no time. Yes, I heard."

"...why do you sound so angry?"

"Do I sound angry?"

"Um, yeah, you still do."

"No, I don't. I'm just really happy that you'll be out of here in no time!"

"Now you're being sarcastic."

"I just thought you'd at least be happy for me."

"Happy for what? That you get to leave and I'll still be stuck here?"

"...that's not what I meant."

"I don't see why I should be happy."

"Okay, fine, then don't be happy. Satisfied?"

"Yes."

"...okay...I'm...I'm sorry."

"For being so angry."

"Okay...but what exactly were you angry about?"

"You wouldn't understand."

"Trust me, anger and I are the best of friends."

"But you're pretty dense."

"Here I am trying to help you and there you are being mean to me. Real mature."

"Anywaay, let's get back on track. Why were you angry?"

"It's...it's nothing much. Just that before I came here, I was all fine and healthy and happy. Then I get diagnosed with this stupid illness and get admitted into this stupid hospital that I'm probably not leaving any time soon. Then I see all these people, like you, who get admitted into hospital for a short period of time and then leave once you're all recovered. It's unfair. I never asked for any of this, you know?"

"That sucks."

"It does."

"I'm sorry."

"You don't have to be, Walter."

"...you can call me 'Rivers', I don't mind."

"Hah, okay. Rivers."
