Chapter One

The new kid in town, Hay! Life sucks. My family moved from Manila to out of nowhere. Sa kabundukang bahagi ng isang probinsya sa South Luzon. Hindi ako sana’y sa katahimikan. The place was a small town. More or less mga Fifty families lang ang nakatira. A small subdivision called Villa Alegria, eto na ang bagong home town ko at unfortunately, there is no way the I can ever go back to my busy and happy life in the city.

Anyway, My name is Julie Sandoval, a teenager and a loner. Well ngayon lang dahil bago para sa akin ang lahat ng nangyayari. We suddenly transfer from Manila sa hindi ko malamang dahilan. We were happy back there.. I’m actually missing my friends.. Si Clif, Jake and Anne lahat ng mga kakulitan namin. My God! One week pa lang ako ditto pero bored na bored na ako.

I turn on my radio. Andito ako ngayon sa kwarto nakaupo sa bintana habang pinagmamasdan ko ang labas. It’s nearly dawn. Mabuti nalang at nakaka enjoy ang view dahil kitang kitang ko ang sunrise to the tune of My Girl.

          I got sunshine! On a cloudy day

          When its cold outside

          I got a month of May

May… this month is May! What a coincidence. Somehow nakakalighten ng feeling ang music. I jump down and sing along the radio.

          And I guess you say

          What can make me feel this way

          My Girl! Im taking bout my Girl!

          My girl!!!!!

“ Mabuti naman anak at na-eenjoy mo ang ambiance?” Napaigik ako ng may magsalita sa likod ko. Feel na feel ko pa naman.

“ Ma naman eh! Nagulat ako sayo” Agad kong hininaan ang radio.

“Well, masaya lang ako dahil kahit papano nakakacope-up kana sa bagong environment mo. Nalulungkot akong Makita kang nakatanaw lang diyan sa may bintana”. Inakbayan niya ako sabay haplos sa aking buhok.

“Hmm.. naisip ko lang ma, nandito na tayo eh.. Might as well enjoy it diba?Kelan nga pala ma ang start ng classes dito?” I lightly looked at her.

Fourth year na ako this coming school opening and somehow excited din ako sa bagong mga magaganap sa buhay ko. New friends and maybe… new bf… Siguro lang naman. Hindi naman seryoso eh.

“ Sa June fourteen anak. That’s two weeks from now. C’mon, well buy you stuffs you need for school. Nagbigay ng listahan ang registrar niyo.” As soon as she finished saying those, she rose up and head at the door. I wanted to ask something. It bothers me kaya lang natatakot ako na itanong since halos ayaw nilang pag-usapan. I took a deep breath and burst out my question.

“Ma, bakit tayo lumipat all of a sudden?” I said in a controlled voice. Natigilan siya sa paglabas at dahan dahang lumingon sa akin. Then she smiled.

“ I know you’ve been dying to ask that question dear., Don’t let yourself be bothered. We’re here because we needed to getaway from the city. We had plans for you and I know it’s for your own good. You’ll love it here darling.. I know! Coz I grew up here. You don’t know that, do you? Well surprise! This place is my hometown. Now we better get going. “She said at ginulo niya ang buhok ko tsaka tuluyang lumabas.
