Chapter 60
***Ashton's POV***
'Focus. Focus. Focus.' I thought to myself.
It should have been easy. Focusing should have been a walk in the park or a piece of cake, but it wasn't. The head of our London office was talking about potentially expanding, but I couldn't focus.
My ex girlfriend, Tiffany Lawrence, was sitting across from me. I could almost feel her bright blue eyes burning holes into the side of my face.
"So I guess that's all for today. I'll see you all tomorrow morning at eight."
I stood up and turned to Nicole.
"Are you ready?" I asked.
"Yeah. I just need to use the bathroom before we go."
"Okay. I'll just wait in here I guess."
"Okay."
I looked at the clock and pulled out my phone to call Lily. Just as I was about to press the call button, I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Hey." Tiffany's voice spoke.
"Hey Tiff." I turned around.
Her arms wrapped around me. "I missed you."
I quickly returned her hug and gently pushed her away.
"I thought you were working in France."
"I was," she said, "but I needed a change of scenery."
"Oh. How long have you been home?"
"A few weeks. How long are you staying?"
"A week. Just came to sort some things out and talk about business plans."
"I see." She said.
"Yeah."
"I really like your hair." she ran her fingers through my hair. Her hand ran down my arm and she squeeze my bicep. "Have you been working out?"
"Um not really."
"Well you could've fooled me."
"Thanks."
"Do you want to get some dinner?"
"Well um, I would, but I've got to make sure Nicole gets back to the hotel."
"She's an adult. I'm sure she'll be alright."
"She's never been here and things can get hectic."
"If you don't want to, just say so. You don't need to come up with excuses."
"I just don't think it's a good idea considering what happened last time."
"We always do that." She laughed.
"I have a girlfriend. I'm really not interested."
"Oh."
"Yeah."
"Wow I feel stupid. I'm sorry." She muttered.
"It's okay you didn't know."
"I shouldn't have suggested it though. I'm really so embarrassed."
"It's okay."
There was an awkward silence before either one of us spoke.
"So um...I'll see you tomorrow I guess?" She said in an unsure tone.
"Yeah. Have a safe commute."
"Thanks. You too."
Whenever she was out of the room, I released a breath that I didn't know I was holding.
