Song of the chapter: "Surround You" Echosmith

Karlie

I tapped my foot anxiously on the floor as I waited in the back of Taylor's car. The 1989 world tour had just ended, and her plane was due to touch down in about two minutes.

One of her security guards had gone out to wait for her, and another, Ray, was sitting in the car with me. Normally, I didn't mind large crowds, but wading through a sea of fans sounded too anxiety inducing at the moment. I just wanted to hug Taylor tightly and never let go. Since announcing our relationship to the public two months ago, recognition became inevitable whenever we were seen in public together.

My constant gaze out the window was finally rewarded when I saw Taylor exit the doors of the airport. I ran out of the car and pulled her into a hug. "Hi!" she said, pulling back to kiss me on the cheek. She pushed her sunglasses on top of her head.

I kissed her on the forehead, then pulled away to help load her suitcases into the car. Due to how late her flight was, there weren't many paparazzi, but the faint click of cameras could still be detected nonetheless. I opened the car door and allowed her to enter first, placing my hand on her back to guide her in.

Finally away from the public's eyes, I cupped her cheek and kissed her. She pulled away a few seconds later, and rested her head on my shoulder.

"How was the flight?" I asked.

Taylor sighed. "Long and boring."

I giggled, pressing another kiss to the top of her head. "Aren't they all?"

"Yeah."

We sat in silence for a few minutes. Taylor fought to keep her eyes open.

"I have a surprise for you at home," I said, grinning. I'd spent the whole day preparing.

She groaned, rubbing her eyes. "I'm too tired for sex tonight, hon."

I blushed, catching Ray's eye in the rearview mirror. Embarrassingly, this was tame compared to the other things he'd overheard over the past year. "Nah, it's even better than sex," I said with a wink.

"Better than sex, huh?" Taylor challenged, "I must be in for a real treat, then."

Taylor

I let out a large sigh as we finally made it into the apartment. I was immediately greeted by an eager Olivia, and Meredith even stirred from her spot on the couch to mewl a hello.

"C'mon," Karlie said, beckoning up the stairs, "I bought your favorite bubble bath."

A large smile made its way across my face. "Karlie Kloss, you're a saint."

We both lugged my suitcases upstairs, and dropped them on the floor in the bedroom. I would unpack tomorrow.

Karlie took my hand and led me to the bathroom. While we waited for the tub to fill, my head found its way to my favorite spot on her chest. Our height made it so that I could hear her heartbeat every time we hugged barefoot. The rhythmic pulses began to lull me to sleep, and I let out a yawn.

"Tired, huh," Karlie smiled empathetically.

I nodded, rubbing my eyes. "I just want to sleep for like three days." Tour had been the most simultaneously exciting and tiring part of my life over the the past few months. Although I was sad that it was over, I wasn't upset over all the hours of sleep I could catch up on.

Finally, the tub was filled and the bubble bath was added. I pulled off my clothes, leaving them in a heap on the floor. Karlie followed suit, and I nestled against her warm, naked skin. "Sorry I smell like airport," I apologized. Then, turning more serious, I stepped back and ran my fingers over the many scars on Karlie's stomach. "It's been almost ten months, right?"

She nodded enthusiastically. "Yeah, it's ten months on the twenty third."

"I'm so proud of you," I said.

She giggled, "We should get in before the water gets cold."

We both slid into the bathtub. Karlie wrapped her arms around my waist, and pulled my back flush against her chest. "Mmmmm," I sighed, sinking into the bliss.

"Relax," Karlie whispered, gently massaging my shoulders.

I allowed my eyes to fall shut. "So, are we still moving your stuff in tomorrow?"

"If you're up for it." We decided that Karlie would officially move in with me once I returned from tour, even though she'd been unofficially living here for months. Tomorrow some of Karlie's friends from work were going to help us transport the rest of her belongings that somehow hadn't made their way over.

I was dangerously close to falling asleep, so we exited the bath tub. Frigid air nipped at our skin for a few split seconds before we wrapped up in warm, fuzzy towles.

Karlie and I made our way into our room, and I pulled on a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt before collapsing into bed. She was a little less dramatic, taking her time to search the closet for her favorite pair of pajamas before climbing underneath the covers.

Olivia and Meredith soon joined us, a rarity for the latter. Karlie giggled. "I'm instagramming this. We're the ultimate lesbians: cats, plaid pajama pants, and we're uhauling tomorrow!" I laughed, cuddling into her side as she took several selfies.

I sighed contentedly and snuggled under the covers. "You're moving in tomorrow..." I trailed off. The past year certainly had its ups and downs, and there were times when I was terrified that Karlie and I would have to part ways. But, here we were, getting ready to go to sleep in our apartment.

Karlie put down her phone and switched off the bedside light. Darkness enveloped us now, and she pulled me close, and whispered with conviction: "I'm moving in tomorrow."
