Jealous!Edgar Allan Poe x Reader: Surprise

Poe instantly regretted taking you to the amusement park.

You were talking with an old friend of yours, who happened to be male. He was acting so familiar with you, holding your hands and hugging you.

"Is this your boyfriend?" he asked, a sly expression on his face. You happily answered yes and hugged Poe from the side, making him blush. Oh how he wished for you to hold him like that again. It was like he was awkwardly third-wheeling... his own girlfriend! He vowed that he would never let anyone be so close to you as this man was now.

"Let's go on this ride (Y/N)-chan!" your friend happily shouted, taking your hand and pulling you towards the roller coaster. He looked back at Poe, smirking devilishly. Poe's fists clenched together so tightly that his knuckles turned white.

"Come on Poe!" you turned around and motioned him to follow. His expression softened a bit as he sped up. The line was long, but it was even longer for Poe. He could feel his heart breaking at the sight of you two, laughing and joking. He wished that he could replace the unknown man in front of him. He wished that you would only pay attention to him.

"Hey (Y/N)-chan, sit next to me so you don't get scared," Poe butted in the conversation, trying any means necessary to talk to you.
"Oh silly, I won't get scared. But I'll sit next to you anyways because I love you," you said and fell back into his chest. He blushed and smiled like an idiot, finally happy that you were talking to him. He shot an evil look at your friend, telling him to back off. The friend rolled his eyes and crossed his arms over his chest, eyeing the two of you occasionally.

Once it was finally your turn to get on the ride, Poe violently grabbed your hand and pulled you into the seat next to him. The other man was forced to sit behind you. The operator sounded the countdown, and the cars inched forward up the track.

"Isn't this exciting!?" you asked, overflowing with enthusiasm.
"Y-yeah," Poe mumbled, swallowing rather loudly. He wasn't used to such intense things. Hell, he was a simple writer.

"I changed my mind, I CHANGED MY MIND!" he screamed and shut his eyes tightly, although you couldn't tell. You giggled, holding his hand. You had completely forgotten about your friend who was seething behind you.
"It's alright Poe, I'm right here," you said soothingly. He calmed down a little when he felt your hand. The coaster was at the top of the hill, waiting to drop.

"You guys know I'm st..." your friend was cut off by the sudden fall of the coaster and everyone's exhilarated screams. You were screaming, hands in the air and tears forming in your eyes from the rush of air. Poe tightly clutched the lap bar and screamed on and off. The ride continued on for a little longer, finally stopping. Poe shivered once the ride stopped, letting go of the bar slowly. You hopped out of the car, taking Poe's hand and trudging through the gate. You and your friend were separated by the large crowd of people.

"Wait (Y/N)-chan, what about your friend?" Poe asked.
"He was getting on my nerves, besides, today was our day, and I want to spend time with you," you said, stopping once you felt you were far enough away.

"(Y/N), I," you shushed him by putting your finger to his lips.
"I want to ride the ferris wheel," you beamed and led him in the direction of the grand thing. You picked a great time of day too. Once inside one of the carriers, you sat next to Poe, cuddling with him.

"(Y/N), I'm sorry," he said sadly. You looked up at him.
"Why are you apologizing?" you asked, very concerned.
"I've made today the worst day. I was getting in the way of you and your friend," he said. You smiled and moved his bangs out of the way so that you could stroke his cheek.
"That's not your fault. Besides, it was him who got in the way, not you. I should be the one apologizing, I did nothing to stop him. I only realized what he was trying to do a while ago, and I'm so sorry," you said, cupping his face in your hands.

The ride jerked, and then it slowly started to raise the carriers.

"Then let's forget it ever happened. What's important right now is that we're together," he said, placing his hands on top of yours. You smiled, pulling him into a passionate kiss. The kiss was filled with the love you two felt for eachother, and it lasted quite a while. Once your carrier reached the middle point of the ferris wheel, you broke the kiss and pressed yourself against the glass. Poe followed you, placing his arm around your waist.

"It's pretty isn't it?" he asked. You could see the rest of the park and all of the buildings in Yokohama. The sky was bright orange and pink, and the clouds were thin and wispy. You nodded, and Poe pulled you closer.

"It's no match to your beauty though," he said, a smile tugging at his lips. You blushed a deep red. He turned you around and got down on one knee.
"Poe what are you..." You were unable to finish when he pulled out a little black box. You covered your mouth with your hands and started to tear up.
"(Y/N), I've been wanting to ask you this for a while. Will you marry me?" he asked, smiling sweetly. You jumped into his arms, knocking him back and making the carrier swing a bit. He hugged you tightly as you cried into his shoulder.
"Yes, yes of course!" you said, the fabric of his overcoat muffling your voice. You pushed yourself up a bit and kissed him, tangling your hands in his shaggy black hair. This may have ended up being the best day of his life...

I think I died a little. Little Poe doesn't get enough love...
