Expedition Blue Egg Part Two!

Okay. I suck at writing, but oh well.

The eerie quiet that held back the sound of the trees was uncomfortable. Hiccup felt like he was being watched, a shiver creeping its way up his spine and making his hair stand on end. The sound of the dragons no longer thrashed freely, but was reduced to nothing. It was as if the whole world was standing still. Not even his boots made a sound as he walked over sticks and leaves.

Silence was met with a crackling sound, the egg in his hands vibrating and heating up. "Toothless," He yelled. "We need to go, buddy!"

Instead of his shout getting the usual greeting of Toothless's roar, it got a new response.....

The call of a mother dragon.

Hiccup glanced around, the call echoing and the source undetectable. A worried look fell over his face. What happened to Toothless? He thought as he carried the heavy egg in his arms to where he last saw the Night Fury. "Toothless!" He called out, hoping to spot the black dragon.

Shadow wings swept over him, the shadow greenish blue like the sea and unlike Toothless's shadow. Hiccup looked up to see the mother dragon, her scales reflecting in the sunlight and her eyes glinting with pride. Not just pride, but something else.... As if she was daring Hiccup to try to take her egg.... A challenge. She was challenging Hiccup.

But where's Toothless?

Hiccup looked around hurriedly, his eyes searching for any trace of his dear dragon. "Toothless! C'mon, bud!" He shouted, wanting the Night Fury to respond. The dragon flying above him fell silent, the wing-beats no longer audible. However, the dragon's shadow remained. What....?

He looked up to see the dragon glaring down at him, everything silent. If she wanted to roar, he was pretty sure she wouldn't have been able to. It's like she wants me to try... He thought. He felt sort of guilty... After all, it probably looked like he was trying to take this dragon's egg.
