Icy Path

I saw you across the ice,

The lake lay before my eyes.

You were happy and so was I,

all the way across the ice.

The crystalline concoction spread out before,

If I didn't cross you will still ignore me.

But I'm scared it will crack and I will fall,

Away to the bottom safe from it all.

You're so far away across the ice.

On it's surface I see my reflection,

I stare at it and it stares at me,

I wonder what it sees.

It pleas and it pleas,

it howls and begs,

for me to take a step.

To cross the ice.

I've fell in before,

and I want to no more.

But I want you so much more.

So this fear I'll ignore.

The ice path creaks,

I sway and I sway.

I wonder.

Will it break.
