earth crumbles from between my veins,
lighting paths beneath my skin,
singing melodies that weave braids
of colours unknown to me; it is still
and the night is long, as I gaze
up at the heavens and bathe in
the glow of the celestial bodies;
it feels soft and feather-light,
drifting amongst the stars in my eyes,
I swim in thoughts that compete
to drown out the others; it is all
fun and games, it almost seems
to say; I raise my glass to toast
the invisible hosts of my dream,
as they dance and make music,
making the constellations glimmer all
the brighter; a single candle flickers out
and the sky explodes into bursts
of light, bathing my head in a timeless
wreath of colour; what is wrought
from ancient words is known as
deathless, as sand slips from between
my fingertips and the star swirl
above my head, until motionless.
