All three girls stood still. It was so silent that they could hear the sound of blood rushing through their ears. Isabelle turned around, confused. She decided to use her usual, yet destructive coping mechanism. Opening her mouth.
"Okay, so now we're in a school. This is a step up." Isabelle said. Neither Eloise nor Leah knew whether she was sarcastic or not.
"Is there any way out?" Leah almost whispered, trying to ignore Isabelle. "I really just want to go home."
"You act like I know." Isabelle scoffed. "You're acting like you should be worried. You just got here. I've been here for days."
"No one asked for your opinion. I only said I wanted to leave. I understand that you aren't exactly enjoying yourself, but I can guarantee that none of us are having the time of our lives." Leah retorted. Eloise stayed still and silent. She didn't enjoy arguing. She always felt as if she was going to vomit any time anyone was fighting in front of her.
"Please. I doubt you're missing out on anything great. I have parents, friends and sports teams. I'm doubtful you even have any friends to miss. You little-"
"Can you shut the hell up?" Eloise yelled.
Isabelle turned to Eloise, and stared at the tiny figure in front of her, expecting her to say something else. All three of them stayed silent. It stayed that way for a minute.
"Listen, you're right." Leah broke the silence. "I don't have parents, friends or sport teams. I have nothing. But none of your little precious worldly possessions will cross your damn mind if we don't find a way out. I'm going to look for an exit. You can go find a way to talk to your sports team." Leah stormed away, and Eloise followed, knowing she wasn't going to enjoy staying with Isabelle.
Isabelle watched them silently turn at the end of the hallway, and she sunk to her knees. Tears fell from her eyes.
"Nothing matters." She whispered into her hands.
