Part 2

"Then don't."

I heard myself laughing as Roselle walked away. Never in my entire life have I been treated this way. Even if I offended people, they still talk to me with a smile on their face. Then again, no one knews who I was in this school.

My train of thoughts were interrupted by a sharp ringing. Hesitantly, I picked up the call. It was not that I didn't want to talk to my mother. Just that every time she called, it was something related to the company... and I was right.

"Noah!"

"What is it, mom?"

"We have a very important dinner with the Winters. You've met them, right?"

"Yes. A couple of times. Why?"

"Oh Honey. You know very clearly why. You're going to have to take over your dad's company in a few years!"

"Mom, I've met the Winters before!"

"But you haven't met their daughter, have you? She's taking over her dad's company once she get out of college."

"When is it?" I sighed.

"Next week, 8pm, at our house. Don't be late."

"Alright. Bye."

I sighed again. Taking over my step-father's company was never my dream but as the only son of Robert Anderson, I pretty much had no choice. Sure, father could always have chosen the vice-president but A&W company must always be ran by the Andersons. It was one of the dying wish that my grandfather had left behind.

Many people longed to be in my position, but all they saw was the luxury that I enjoy. A guaranteed high paying job, a large house, all the money I can spend. Do they know all that I have to give up for those?

It's lonely at the top. That's what people always say. The price I had to pay for luxury was friendship and love. Women lust after my money and men befriend me with a motive. No one actually loved for who I was.

A person bursted through the door and my train of thoughts were interrupted yet again. Can't a man wallow in self-pity in peace?

"Look who came ba-"

"Help."
