Lauren Jauregui's Point Of View

The music left the speakers of my car while Veronica hummed next to me. Only her to be with an incredible good mood so early; I couldn't even judge her, she went to sleep as soon as she went back to our house. But I on the other hand, continued to work on every possible place where Heitor might be right now. The damn man was making me lose hours of sleep, I couldn't rest until finally seeing him convicted by justice. It was a matter of honor to unravel that case completely, and show not only Christopher, but myself that I was able to solve that problem.

-You really ain't gonna tell me how it went in Switzerland? – I heard Vero murmur.

I flashed a smile at my best friend who even after numerous attempts to find out how was my trip with Camila, didn't dare give up. I sighed, casting her a bored look.

-No need to make that face. Come on, Lauren? You always tell me everything.

I remained focused on the busy street, sighing and surrendering myself. Iglesias would never give up. The images of the moments with Camila in Switzerland came into my mind, making me remember the good feelings that I felt when being with her. It was strange to think that after so many years I really had had fun with someone, without being only with a good night of sex and booze. I could remember every detail of all those moments at her side, especially our moments in Saint Moritz. The images of Camila smiling during our dinner, and the relaxed way how she talked was carved in my head, the same way as her moment of pure stubbornness in the skating park was.

-Laur? Earth calling Lauren.

-What do you want to know? – I asked glancing at her quickly.

-How it went in Switzerland with the married woman.

-Her name is Camila, Vero.

I kept my eyes attentive to the line of cars in front of me, which gradually stopped before the traffic light.

-Right, sorry. How was it with Camila? You two had lots of sex, did I get it right?

-You didn't, no.

-No? What do you mean no? – the surprise in her voice tone was clear – God forgive me, but there's something wrong there.

-Wrong? Why?

-Wrong because of the history between the two of you. You couldn't be near each other because it ended in foreplay or sex. And now that you two spent days together and alone, you didn't take advantage of that? Hmm...

I shook my head as I accelerated the vehicle.

-Don't start, we just did other things. – I let out in a carefree way.

-Like what?

-We went out, we had dinner, we had fun.

-Without sex?

-Yes, Vero. Without sex.

-I knew that this would happen. – she murmured as she looked out the window.

-This what?

-You're falling in love with that woman.

-Have you gone mad? I'm not in love! – I answered quickly enough to convince of that.

Iglesias looked like she was about to burst into laughter, but was holding it in. I shook my head, keeping my focus on the traffic.

-Lauren, I know you. I've been your best friend for years, and I feel something different in you now.

I stared at Veronica's brown eyes, seeing the seriousness of her words.

-I'm not. – I insisted.
