a slender hand tightened
around her arm,
fingers splayed;
nails grazing speckled flesh.
the stargirl startled,
her eyes—
(pools of darkness)
blown wide with fright.
when the realization
that it was none
other than him
hit her,
she blinked.
coughed lightly into a fist.
looked to the right, the left;
everywhere but the planes of his face.
she stood—no, cowered—
under the scrutinizing gaze
of a boy
that did not understand.
