a slender hand tightened
around her arm,
fingers splayed;
nails grazing speckled flesh.the stargirl startled,
her eyes—
(pools of darkness)
blown wide with fright.when the realization
that it was none
other than him
hit her,she blinked.
coughed lightly into a fist.
looked to the right, the left;
everywhere but the planes of his face.she stood—no, cowered—
under the scrutinizing gaze
of a boy
that did not understand.
