"Bucky?" Steve was laying on the couch while Bucky was in the kitchen making lunch for the both of them. From the couch it looked like roast beef sandwiches. Steve's stomach growled at the thought of food. Bucky looked up in response to what steve had said. Steve pushed the blanket off and slowly got off the couch. He knew Bucky would just tell him to lay back down but honestly he was sick and tired
of laying around and having Bucky fuss over him. He was a
grown man who could take care of himself, right...?
"Bucky what did the doctor say when I was unconscious?" Bucky looked at Steve with a strange look on his face. Almost like he had lied and been caught. Steve tilted his head a little. "Uhh.. Nothing much. Just that you were real sick and they didn't know how to help you." Steve nodded a little. Bucky grabbed the plates with prepared sandwiches and handed one
to Steve before walking out into the living room. He plopped himself down on the sofa and patted the spot next to him smiling at Steve. Steve shuffled over to the couch and sat down with Bucky. He felt like there was something he wasn't saying. His appetite had almost completely gone. He felt sick to his stomach. Bucky had never lied to him before had he? He wouldnt do that...
Bucky's face changed when he saw that Steve wasnt eating. "Whatsa matter Stevie?" Steve shook his head and snapped out of his trance. The bad thoughts going away for a little while. He looked up at Bucky and smiled. Albeit it was a fake smile but Buck seemed to buy it. "Nothin'" Steve picked up his sandwich and took a bite chewing slowly. It was okay, it would definitely have been better if he was hungry still. But he was worried about what the doctor had actually told Bucky... Steve brushed it off for now. Maybe he'd take the bus to the hospital when Bucky left for work. He let himself finish the sandwich and the coke that Bucky got up to get for him.
He let himself be coddled for the whole day until Bucky tucked him in at ten and told him he'd be leaving in an hour because he had something to finish up before his shift started. or something along those lines. Steve's brain was a little foggy. He should sleep but his mind was going a thousand thoughts a second and he couldnt keep up. So he lay staring at the ceiling until he heard Bucky's keys jingle against the door and that meant he was gone. off to work he went. So Steve got out of bed and walked to the front room where the window was and watched Bucky walk to work. Steve waited till he saw Bucky go around the corner until he went downstairs outside in a pair of pants, a shirt, and simply a pair of ear muffs. They had been his mothers
ear muffs. That was the only reason that they sat on the
coat rack. Steve wrapped his arms around himself and jogged over to the bus stop and waited. He really should have
grabbed a coat. When the bus pulled up to the stop Steve
breathed a sigh of relief. Thank god for at least a small amount of warmth. He handed the bus driver the money and sat at the seat nearest the door so that he could book it from the bus stop to the hospital. God what was Bucky going to say when he found out that Steve left in the middle of December without a coat and took a bus to the damn hospital.
Steve closed his eyes and smiled at the thought of Bucky being comically angry. But would it really be that comical. Or would he really be angry at Steve. Steve didn't have long to thing about that because the bus stopped very quickly and Steve was snapped from his thoughts. He looked out the window, it wasn't his stop. The next one maybe? Steve kept his eyes on the window so that he wouldnt miss his stop. Soon enough they made it, alive surprisingly. That bus driver needs to go back to driving school. Steve once again wrapped his arms around himself and walked down the street towards the hospital. The streetlights giving off an eerie glow. It was oddly silent, barely any traffic and not a lot of people out. There were a few scary looking men across the street that were staring at Steve as he walked by. But luckily he wasn't persued by anyone and he was able to safely make it to the hospital. What a journey.
