The woman at the front desk stared at Steve as he ran through the front entrance of the hospital building to escape the bristling cold. She smiled at him as he approached with a worried look on his face. "Hi there, I was in a few days ago after I'd had a sever asthma attack. And my doctor didn't
disclose any information on how to keep myself well." The receptionist nodded to herself as she listened to Steve explain what had happened. He told her that his 'cousin' had been the one who spoke with the doctor whilst Steve was unconscious. "Okay do you remember your
doctors name Mister..." Steve gave her a confused look for a moment as she grabbed a pen from her desk. "O-oh! Rogers! Steve Rogers." He then told her the name of his doctor while she gave him a very fake smile and told him to sit in the waiting room while she looked
into his files.
Bucky sat at a desk filling out his boss' paperwork because she was too damn lazy to do it herself. He grumbled solemn curses at where she
sat in the other room. Ungrateful old hag. Bucky set a folder of paperwork off to the
side and watched the hustle and bustle of the mailroom. People running back and forth loading their mail bags for their route. Luckily that wasn't Bucky's job. He got to stay here and file paperwork until the late morning. He sighed and continued doing his job. His boss was a peice of shit to say the least. But he dealt with it. At least he didnt have to search for some other job where he would have to deal with an
interview and so many questions about his arm... No one wants that... So he went back to his old bitch of a boss
and begged her for his job back. And yeah she gave it to him, at a cut pay and shitty hours and not only doing his work but hers as well. So that she could sleep in a little and have a nice breakfast and listen to a record or two while she
drank a cup of coffee. What a bitch... When Bucky was done with his boss' work he went home. He knew something was up when he walked through the door and there was no grumbled hi from the bedroom or kitchen. And the blankets were rumpled at the foot of the bed and Steve wasn't home at all. He wasn't in the bathroom he wasn't in the bedroom he wasn't making their breakfast
in the kitchen or rooting through the closet for something. He was gone. And Bucky didn't know where to look. Except in the very back of his mind there was a little voice that reminded him of Steve's question about what the doctor had said. He knew Bucky had lied. But would he really be that curious as to leave, and what...? catch a damn bus to the hospital?! "Jesus Christ Stevie youre a pain in my ass." Bucky grabbed his keys from where he tossed them when he came in and rushed back out the door, locking it behind him. He ran to the bus stop to check the schedule but of course, he had just missed the bus. he just hoped that Steve hadn't made any decisions that he was gonna regret...
Steve sat in the waiting room for about an hour before the receptionist told him that he could wait in one of the rooms to wait for his doctor. Apparently his name was labeled under a special cases file in the paperwork and his doctor would be over right away. Steve simply nodded and let one of the nurses lead him down a maze of hallways filled with people that were dying of sicknesses and were injured beyond beleif. and here he was, feeling much smaller than usual next to this tall woman who was leading him around. He felt like he was being led directly to his death bed.
When they arrived at the room the nurse told him to simply sit down on the bed and wait patiently for his doctor to arrive. Which was hard, because Steve's anxiety levels were through the roof at that point and he was having trouble sitting still. So he got up. He was about to open the door and stroll down the halls but someone had thrown them open just as steve walked over to it. The man behind the door looked frantic. Like something horrible had happened. as if his
greatest asset had been lost. But upon laying his eyes on Steve, he visibly relaxed. he let out a sigh of relief and held out his hand to Steve. "Mister Rogers. How are you?" Steve looked skeptically at the doctor. "Well doc I've been better. But I'm alive still so I guess that's a good thing." "Well I assume you're here about the cure then right?" Steve gave the doctor a confused stare. But the look on his face soon turned angry. Bucky said that there was nothing that they could do for him. Had he lied. "So there
is a cure then... What will it take for me to receive this cure...?" The doctor smiled at Steve. "Nothing more than what you already have Mister Rogers. A strong heart and a
kind soul." Steve simply shook
his head in disbeleif. "No Mr. Stark. I meant what will it cost." Doctor Stark shook his head. "Nothing. It could cost something very valuable but we can talk about that in a
little bit. First there's a few tests I'd like to run. Is that okay?" Steve nodded and let himself be poked and prodded by doctors and nurses galore until they were done. Once
they had all left Steve checked the small clock on the wall. Almost eight. That means- "What do you mean he's busy. I need to talk to him. Bring him out here right now! My cousin's in there and I want to know what the hell is going on! Let. me. through." -Bucky...
