This song is about "Unternehmen Zitadelle" (Operation Citadel), a German attempt during World War 2 to take the city of Kursk, an important control point in South Western Russia, in 1943. The Germans paced forward with thousands of tanks, where the Soviets awaited them with even more, thus this battle became a Tank Battle. The German term for a Tank Battle is "Panzerkampf", thus the title))
