Father (Sad Story)

She used to want to write
She wanted to sing and she wanted the spotlight
She wanted to dance, she wanted to be great
But he would hold her back, his words always filled with hate
He would tell her she wouldn't amount to anything,
That she was just a mistake
She couldn't count how many hits she'd take
Every night she'd come home with an overwhelming dread
With so many terrible thoughts running through her head
Thoughts that he planted there, her own father treated her with distaste
And when she came home, she always felt out of place
He would tell her that he never wanted her
That he never wanted her mother either
He said "it should've only lasted the summer"
He said that he never loved her
And she would cry every day, she would think what's wrong with her?
Because it must be something awful if she couldn't be loved by her own father
When she was little she'd come home, proud as can be
She'd show him her paper and ask daddy aren't you proud of me?
He'd give her no more than a look, so hard and cold
Then he'd look away from her, tell her what she'd always been told,
Is that the best you can do? What will you ever live up to?
You're nothing but a mistake, you'll always be the same
So one day she got tired of it, she didn't want to hear those words
And now she's gone, all because her daddy didn't want her

No, this is not about me. Yes, it's a true story. The saddest I've ever heard.
