Zaria's pov
"why don't you hate me?" I asked. I was confused, you had the palest porcelain skin and electric eyes but you didn't hold a burning hatred in your heart. What makes you not like the others?

she smiled and tilted her head back in the sun. "We are alike." she seemed to say to the sun more than to me. rolling over onto her stomach she looked me in the eye and repeated herself. "we are alike, the same. and I understand how it is to be hated." she continued.

hated? but she was perfect. from the curve of her lips to her delicate, long legs. she was a dream. they could see that, couldn't they? she shone like a moonbeam amongst stars.

"not in the same way of course" she whispered stroking my hair, staring down at me with her bright eyes. "they think I'm strange, they won't call me lily. just Lucas.... and fag." her eyes hardened.

"they are wrong lily." I'd say firmly squeezing your hands til mine hurt. "Lucas isn't you, lily is they just don't get that it's you."

we layed in silence staring up into the cornflower blue sky, counting clouds.

the recess whistle would be blown and you just yelled "thank you" as you ran inside.
"you're welcome lily."
