"I'm known as death around these parts. If you work for me and behave, I'll let you live." His deep voice dripped with arrogance as he continued to shoulder your body with little effort, carrying you closer and closer to the exit of the building. "Otherwise, you'll end up like these poor bastards."
Raising your head, you glanced at your surroundings and what you saw escalated the fear thrumming in your chest. Several bodies lay sprawled on the floor, seeming to have been mummified with their faces frozen in horror. Pools of bright red blood bloomed beneath them, and each one was ridden with multiple, widespread bullet holes.
You recognized one of the pale husks. One of a man who had helped you reach the waiting area several days ago, the day of your official hire. You recalled his friendly demeanor as he tried to ease your nervousness. And it seemed surreal that this was happening so shortly after you were hired. Your heart clenched and you couldn't stem the beads of tears that formed on your lashes.
"You monster..." You breathed out, the words leaving your lips without premeditation.
He heard the quivering in your voice and sneered beneath his skeletal mask. "You have no idea." His reply was accompanied by another dark laugh as he reveled in your grief.
No, you wouldn't cry. Not now. As he continued to move at a rapid pace, you were running out of time. Nobody has come to stop your captor. The Overwatch force was spread out too thin, especially with many agents accompanying Mercy in Zürich.
"Wait- wait," You pleaded with him. "I'm going to throw up. Please, put me down a sec." You tried to emulate labored breathing, dry-heaving.
Your abductor ignored you and continued his stride.
"Seriously," You grasped fistfuls of his robe, hoping he'd listen as you continued to make your case, "I'm going to throw up all over you and it's not going to be pleasant. For either of us."
He gave a small, annoyed sigh and stopped when you threatened him with puke. "Try anything funny and I'll kill you."
Inwardly, you wanted to challenge his threat. You didn't believe his intention was to kill you. He risked much to get you, infiltrating the Overwatch headquarters. He knew of your ability to alter behavior in others. You were valuable to him. At least you were ninety percent sure of it.
"Thanks," You muttered as he set you on your feet. You clutched at the base of your throat, continuing your display of feeling ill, when you caught a blur of metal and glowing green in the corner of your eye. Genji's form appeared several feet behind the black-garbed man and your heart soared.
Your abductor must have seen the change in your facial expression because before you knew it, you took a blow to your stomach. Hard. With your breath knocked out of you, the world around you faded to black. The last you heard was Genji's deep voice shouting your name.
Calling upon his enhanced agility, he darted towards the hostile figure and drew his blade. "You are either brave or foolish to have come alone, Reaper." The instant the blade touched the assailant's body, his form dematerialized into his trademark black mist, and your body no longer was supported as the mist distanced itself from Genji.
The cybernetic ninja caught your unconscious form in his arms, his blade falling to the ground with a resounding clang. The being known as Reaper materialized a short distance away. His sinister chuckle filled the air as he drew up his weapons, a pair of shotguns that looked equally as deadly as he was. "I guess it was stupid of me to think the whole squad was with the doc."
Before he could aim the barrels of his weapons, a downward arrow flew past Genji's tall form and struck Reaper at the hem of his robe, pinning the fabric to the ground.
"Make any sudden movement and this one goes through your head." Hanzo had another arrow primed and ready to release.
"Looks like we didn't leave you crippled after all." Reaper sounded mildly disappointed after glancing briefly at the marksman perched above. He noticed Genji's arm slowly rising while the other held your body against his.
Three shuriken flew towards him but went through their mark as Reaper had already anticipated the attack. In his invincible form, he spat a brief warning, "I'll take her when you least expect it. And when that time comes, I'll make sure you both regret ever joining the miserable bunch." Within the second, he disappeared without a trace.
The high chirping sound and flashing alarm lights abruptly ended, signifying that the hostile presence was no longer there.
"Running a base-wide analysis," Athena's voice sounded overhead. "No signs of hostile activity."
Genji lifted your body in his arms and cradled you close to his chest. As he peered down at your face, he felt his heart clenching. "What about [Y/N], Athena? Is she alright?"
The AI scanned your unconscious form, monitoring your vital signs. "Heart rate and blood pressure stable. She will regain consciousness soon."
Genji sighed in relief.
Returning his arrow to its tube, Hanzo scoffed. "You are the one who is quite taken with her, Genji." He leaped off the high perch, landing effortlessly on his feet. "You haven't lost your doting self it seems."
Genji brushed the comment aside as he watched Hanzo approach the lodged arrow. Instead, he brought up something of greater importance. "You heard the remark he made, brother. He knew you were injured."
Hanzo pulled the arrow out of the ground, noting that there was nothing fixed to it. Not even fabric material. "I'm aware."
"Have you known it was Talon you were tracking the other day?"
Hanzo remained quiet, walked to where Genji stood with you in his arms, and retrieved Genji's fallen kodachi. Silently, he sheathed the sword into the scabbard suspended on the ninja's back.
Taking Hanzo's silence as confirmation, the ninja raised his voice angrily. "Brother, you could've been killed! What you did was reckless!"
"It was worth the risk!" Hanzo turned his back on Genji. "I discovered that our clan is involved with Talon somehow."
Genji sighed audibly. "I am taking [Y/N] to the infirmary. We can discuss this later."
The older Shimada brother grunted in agreement and went to deal with the corpses littering the hall. Meanwhile, Genji carried your unconscious self to the medical wing. Taking long strides, he reached the room that served as your makeshift living quarters and gently laid you down on the bed.
Behind his mask, Genji's eyes observed your resting form intently, recalling the day he first met you. Specifically, he was recalling the exact moment in this very room that he'd seen your body unclothed and the blood rushed to his cheeks. He shook his head lightly, as if dismissing his inappropriate thoughts.
Maybe he was under your spell as Hanzo had suggested. He truly considered the notion. Because before he realized it, he had taken off his mask and brought his lips close to your serene face. A hair's breadth away from touching yours.

a/n: Hey you guys. Just wanted to say my thanks for voting/commenting. It truly does encourage me to update as soon as possible. Can't thank you enough for the feedback and support. And I do apologize for the previous delays between each chapter. I did just publish a new "book". It'll be strictly Overwatch lemons. The first chapter was, of course, a Hanzo lemon. Thanks for reading!
