i remember one morning

when i had beat the

sun at rising.

i turned over,

your snores soft and

your face

serene.

and as much as it pained me

to let go of that expression

i shook you awake.

you grumbled

and complained as i pulled you to the porch.

but as the sun rose

you got quiet

and i felt your fingers

reach for mine

and i could feel the words your

heart was singing.

and i knew

as the sky began to smile

that i loved you too.
