"It's so not fair you can command animals," Tasha complained.

Lisa hid her smile as she ran her hands over the slimy scales of the Slalssaari. It was gorgeous. She had never seen one quite so red before.

"All I got was some mechanical stuff," Tasha grumbled.

The Slalssaari arched his beautiful body and slid around the rock they were perched on. He waited calmly for her instruction, but she didn't tug on the power.

Lisa looked at Tasha, "do you know how many guys wish they had your skill?" She let her hands run over his body as he moved around them. "My brother would kill for your powers. He didn't get anything."

Tasha bristled, "well that's hardly my fault. Besides, he is a good swordsman. Isn't he going to try and be a knight for the king?"

"It's not going to work out," Lisa sighed, "the King only takes the best."

"And Dan isn't?"

Lisa shook her head. Tasha couldn't see sense when it came to Dan. She had been in love with her brother since the minute she set eyes on him.

The Slalssaari became restless and she let him go. There was a release inside her and he gave her one more look before swimming down the creek.

"What would I give to be as beautiful as that?" Tasha sighed as they watched him go.

"You are beautiful, and one day there will be a man who will see that," she put a wet hand on her friend's shoulder. "Now come on, my mom will kill me if we are late for dinner again."

The Slalssaari was gone before they stepped out of the creek.
