-Vanessa POV-

The Cubs play the Phillies in a day game later on and I was super excited. Then again when am I not? It honestly never get old. But for right now Anthony and I are picking out the wedding party. "Can we just elope in Vegas and call it a day" I groan. This was a lot more work than I was willing to put in. I just want to become Mrs. Rizzo. "As much as I would love that we already paid for most of the things. Plus I want to see you in a dress. I'm pretty sure I've only seen you in a dress like twice before" he laughs. Not my fault jerseys are so comfortable. Sue me. "Fine. But I have no idea who I want in my party. Besides the baseball wives I'm not close to many girls" I sigh. Choosing one of the girls to be my maid of honor is so hard. Anthony's had Kris as his best man, naturally. Then his brother, David, Lester, and a childhood friend filling out his party. I already asked his mom to be a part of my party but that's about it. "What about Melisa? Or Brittany" he suggests. I ponder my thoughts and try to wrap my brain around all this. "I think I'll ask Brittany. Then have Cooper be the ring bearer" I decide. Easy enough.

We arrive at the game and I sneak out of the dugout to search for Brit. I quickly find where she was sitting and sit next her. "What's up buttercup" I chirp and her eyes light up. She hugs me tightly and lets a smile appear. "How's the fam" I ask watching P and Cooper play in the concourse. "They've been wonderful. I can't wait till you guys start a family" she replies raising her eyebrows. Ive gotten close to all the families in the club house but Darya, Brittany, and Melisa were the closest things I had to a "best friend". "I can't either. Speaking of, I was wondering if you would be my maid of honor and little Cooper be the ring bearer at our wedding" I ask with a smile. She lets out a squeal and claps her hands "oh my god yes! I'm so excited". We continue talking and I tell her what's been planned already. She seemed really excited and that made me happy.

It's the middle of the game and we're deadlocked at 1. Kyle was by my side like always, trying to convince me why he should be able to DJ my wedding. "Come on, Anthony said it was okay" he whines and Joe lets out a laugh. This is my life now. "Kyle, I love you buddy. But I don't want to come back from my honeymoon and see "Kyle Schwarber Back In Rehab After DJing Incident, To Miss The Whole 2017 Season" in every tabloid" I say. "True. I can't control all this" he replies motioning to himself. I shake my head and return my focus back to the game and watch David step into the box. A few pitches go by and he quickly falls behind 1-2, but he's making good contact so he can see the pitches well. The next pitch comes and that oh so familiar poping sound echoes through Wrigley field. A no-doubter was sent to into left field and grandpa trots around the bases. We all put up 0's indicating that's how many homers he had to hit until he reached zero. The first two people there to congratulate him was Anthony and Kris. They emulated him, infatuated with his charisma and style. He was their hero and they always told him that. He doesn't see it, but everyone else does. Jason wasn't far behind to congratulate his mentor. I look around because the team wasn't happy that they had the lead, no, this was bigger than a game. This was about the family we were a part of. We cared for each other, we wanted everyone to do good and push until we reach the World Series. Always wanted to bring out the best and get better together. David goes up for a curtain call, he looked so happy. "What are you thinking about" Joe says staring at me. "What are we going to do to celebrate?" I say. He rubs his beard to think. "How does dinner sound" he asks. I look over to everyone still congratulating David. "I think that's amazing".

We all go to Geno's East after a big win because why not mix it up every once in a while? After getting seated and ordering chatter breaks out. I talk to Melisa about anything and everything. She was such a great person to have around. "Why doesn't Kris have a girl yet?" Addison chirps. He turns really red and Anthony puts a arm around me shooting Kris a glare. I tried to look at Kris and he refused to make eye contact with me. Weird. I kept trying and he kept avoiding me. "What's wrong with Kris" I whisper to Anthony. He should know, pretty sure they have like a sixth sense for each other or something. "Don't worry about it" he says monotone. I look up at him and try to read his emotions, nothing. He has never talked to me in such a time and I did not appreciate it, especially since I have done nothing wrong. Okay, something is happening and I already don't like it. Dinner passes and we all congratulate David and go our different ways. I drag Anthony behind me and run up to Kris and tap his shoulder. He turns around and looks at me then immediately try's to excuse himself. "Kristopher get your ass back here or so help me God I will make sure you never touch a bat ever again" I yell. Everyone suddenly stops talking and he turns around then makes his way over to where Anthony was standing. "Okay. So do either of you want to tell me what in the hell is going on because I'm kinda tired of my best friend and fiancé keeping things from me"
