Luke's POV

I didn't know what to write

I just stared at the blank, white screen of my laptop with my bottom lip pulled between my teeth and both hands tugging on my hair

I'd never been so unable to come up with words before

"Come on Luke" I said to myself "just start with something. Write something. Write anything for gods sake" I willed myself, I was going to write this

So I sat up straight, cracked my knuckles and placed my hands lightly over the keys

And....still nothing

Frustrated and annoyed at myself I got up and went into the kitchen to get a glass of water. The clinking of the glasses and the sound of the faucet running echoed in the empty apartment.

It has been just over a year since I'd graduated college. I started a job at a record label helping out with studio work and it was the best job I could ever imagine.

I didn't like the sound of my empty apartment, it was too hollow, too silent. I turned on the tv just to get some background noise.

Then I picked up the phone and called Michael

"Lucas, what's up man?" He said as he answered the phone

"It's happening again" I groaned, leaning back into the couch and taking a big gulp of water

"You've been at this for weeks, you don't have much time left!" He told me, probably finding it impossible that I could have not written one thing by now

"You think I don't know that?" I practically yelled, bringing my hand up to my forehead I smoothed the wrinkles that had formed on my forehead.

"Have you written anything so far?" He asked, hopefully

"Not exactly" I said, rubbing the back of my neck nervously

"Are you fucking kidding me?" He yelled "Luke these are your wedding vows!"

"I know! I know!" I said "they just" I paused, thinking.

"They just have to be perfect" I said softly. When I asked Aurora to marry me, we had just graduated from college. She was so excited and now the wedding is a week away and I am officially the worst fiancé in the world.

"You know Aurora is going to love whatever you write" he told me, voice calmer now "it doesn't need to be fancy, just write from the heart" he suggested

"The heart" I repeated, nodding to myself. Then, suddenly, I heard keys rattling outside the apartment door

"She's home, I gotta go!" I told him quickly before hanging up and tossing the phone beside me

"I'm home!" She said coming in the doorway, her curly hair tossed around her from the wind outside. Hands full of papers and books.

"Busy day?" I asked. I stood up from the couch, walked over to her and took someone of the stuff from her arms and placed them on the kitchen counter

"You could say that" she laughed, out of breath probably from climbing up the stairs to our apartment with all her school stuff "I swear if they don't get that elevator fixed soon, I swear I'll kill David" she said. David was the owner of the building, nice guy and all, but she was right they elevator had been out for almost three weeks now and it was starting to become a hassle.

"I'm sure it will be soon" I reassured her. Reaching out my hand for her. She took my hand and I pulled her into my lap

"What about you?" She asked "anything new?"
