Her smile was the kind that would light up any room. Her lips were always painted with a deep scarlet colour. She always knew how she used to drive the boys insane with a simple smirk in their direction, but little did anyone know, she only had eyes for one man.

Steve had only ever heard the stories of the woman known as 'Scarlet Fever'. He had always been intrigued by the tales but never had he ever imagined seeing her in the flesh. Her fierce glance and blood red smile made him unconscientiously shiver. Somehow the emotion of fear had been intertwined with one of intrigue and it now pumped thick through Steve's veins.

Scarlet gracefully spun on her heel to face the super soldier, the same chilling smile plastered on her face. She slowly sauntered over to where the Captain stood, her hips swaying with each carefully planned step.

"Captain Rogers," she purred, the name falling off her tongue with such delicate ease, "I've been expecting you."

She paused to look at the diamond embedded watch that adorned her wrist before turning back to the man in front of her.

"You're 3 minutes late," she stated, closing the gap between the two of them. She gently tapped his chest in a playful attempt to scold him. "I thought that would be like a sin to a super soldier such as yourself."

"Forgive me, ma'am," Steve said, his voice slightly off key due to the close proximity of the beautiful woman that stood in front of him. "Stopping a jewellery heist wasn't originally on my schedule."

Scarlet groaned loudly, rolling her eyes and strutting back to the glass cabinet that had previously held her attention. "Oh, Captain, that's where you're wrong."

"How so?" Steve interrogated, stepping closer to the woman.

"Well, you see," she whispered, her eyes now locked on the jewels in her hands. "You can't stop a crime that's already been committed."

Scarlet twirled around, revealing the multiple pieces of jewellery that adorned her body. She flicked her hair over her shoulder and stepped once again, close to the super soldier.

The Captain was used to keeping his cool composure. It was his skill. He was known for his steel gaze and firm composure...but not tonight. She was different somehow. Her confidence and the way she spoke to him, as though he was the only man on earth...it broke him.

A hot tide managed to creep its way up his neck, tinting his cheeks a gentle red. He looked down at the beautiful woman, her eyes already on him. Her fingers traced feather-like patterns up his chest as she trailed them up to his cheeks. Her fingers gently brushed over his skin, causing him to shiver from her tender touch. Her fingers brushed his tinted cheekbones, a small grin playing on her lips.

"Awe, did I make you blush, Steve?" she gently cooed, a small chuckle following her words. "Don't be embarrassed...it suits you."

Steve was enraptured by her aura, enough to know that this was no natural attraction.

"You're...gifted, aren't you?" Steve asked, his eyebrows pulled into an intrigued stare.

"I suppose so, I mean I would have to be 'gifted' to make the infamous Captain America blush. And here I was thinking you were as emotionless as the Statue of Liberty." She winked, keeping her hand cupped around his cheek.

"As much as I believe you look beautiful in this," Steve gestured to the watch on her wrist, "I'm afraid I'm going to take it back."

Steve snapped out of her alluring trance long enough to grasp her hand lightly in his. In a swift movement he removed the large diamond watch that adorned her wrist.

Her lips contort into a small pout, feeling suddenly bare without the large adornment on her wrist. "Oh, come on, Rogers, I got that one fair and square!"

"You stole it," Steve said flatly, shoving the watch into one of his multiple pockets. "That's not the meaning of fair and square the last time I checked."

"Oh boo," Scarlet booed him, sticking out her tongue before heading for the door. "You know, I think you just wanted to hold my hand."

Steve ran towards the door, blocking it just before she had time to escape. "As much as the thought of holding your hand would please me, I'm afraid I'm going to have to bring you in with me," he paused, holding up a pair of handcuffs. "But, maybe another time."

Scarlet let out a small menacing laugh before leaning into him and lowering her voice. "You know I would be more than honoured to go anywhere with such an exquisite masterpiece such as yourself, but I'm afraid I have prior engagements."

Steve smirked down at her. "I think you're going to need to cancel those plans, you're coming with me."

Scarlet sighs loudly, placing her small hands against his firm chest. "Oh, it would be my honour, Captain Steve Rogers..." She purred, moving her face dangerously close to his. Her warm breath tickled his lips, her own gently brushing his.

Steve's chest felt heavy and his body was frozen in place. Her eyes traced over every inch of his face, silently scrutinising his every feature. She moved her lips slowly to his ear and whispered, her voice low and raspy.

"...Just not tonight."

Her lips touched his cheek in haste, leaving a red stain as small reminder of her. With that, she ran towards the large window that overlooked the city of New York and turned to face him one last time.

"Au Revoir, Captain Rogers." Her mouth upturned into her signature, striking smile, leaving him breathless as she dove out the window into the brisk night air.

Steve, suddenly free of the woman's charm, ran to the now broken window and looked down, desperately searching for the woman's silhouette. His eyes frantically scanned the skies but found nothing, not even a trace.

He turned around and headed for the door. As he was walking, he glanced in the direction of the diamond cabinet that Scarlet Fever had just raided and remembered the diamanté watch still in his pocket. He reached into the pocket, but found no sign of the watch. In a frantic search for the expensive piece of jewellery he begins patting down his entire suit, eager to find the watch and return it. Instead of finding the watch, he pulled out a small note out of the same pocket, with his name perfectly inked onto the front.

Steve unfolded it carefully and read it. A smile found its way onto his lips and he read it. He walked to the door once more, tucking the small note into his pocket but somehow he still had the words tattooed onto his brain.
