Janay McPherson is truly living the perfect life. What more could a 16-year old want than to be poor with two absentee parents and living as the designated nanny for six young siblings? While all of that is on top of balancing school and teenage drama, of course.

Elijah Thompson also happens to be extremely privileged. He lives in one of the worst neighborhoods in Detroit in a tiny house resided by his aloof father, emotionally unstable mother, lazy sister, abusive brother in law, and a baby. As if he wasn't lucky enough, he constantly has to deal with bullies due to his lack of name brand clothing and passive personality.

Two similar ordeals land the teens in one similar setting. While it was unexpected the two start a romance than became deeper than the either could have imagined. When she got ignored, he adored her. When he got hurt, she took care of him. When he needed to get away, she was his outlet. When she needed to be brought back down to earth, he was her reality. They helped eachother for the love.
