Long time no see! :) This cute little one-shot was written by one of my favorites, eva-meleena! I enjoyed reading this one, and I know you will, too!
Avi tapped his pencil on his writing pad and pulled the fingers of his left hand through his beard.
"Sing, sing, sing, sing..." he hummed. "Sing it la la la la la la..." He shook his head and dropped his pencil as he heard someone knocking at his front door.
Avi sighed, stood up and walked over to see who was disturbing him on a Sunday afternoon. His fluffy socks muffled the sound of his steps; he didn't always wear warm socks around the house, but today it was a bit chilly outside and his toes had been a little cold. So he had decided to make himself a cup of tea and put on a pair of his grandma's self-made socks when this little tune had popped up in the very back of his mind.
This had been three hours ago, but he wasn't able to get a single step further in the writing process. His brain only rewound this one line over and over again. Very annoying.
Avi had reached the door and opened it. On the outside stood Mitch, his bangs wet from the rain sticking to his forehead.
"Mitch! What are you doing here?" Avi gave Mitch a quick once over before meeting his eyes. "You're wet."
"Yes. It's raining."Mitch pushed himself past Avi and into the hallway without asking if he could come in. Of course it wasn't necessary to do so. Avi closed the door behind the smaller man and watched him as he slipped out of his shoes and socks. Mitch opened the door again and dumped a flush of rainwater out of them.
"You forgot your wallet at our place this morning and I had the idea of taking a walk to bring it over to you. I couldn't sense that the universe would choose these exact twenty minutes to downpour the whole amount of rain for the whole month over L.A.. Wonderful, let me tell you. Can I get a towel or something, or do you plan on kicking me out again?" Mitch looked at Avi as he pulled down one of his sleeves to wipe a drop off rain of the tip of his nose.
Avi stared at Mitch for another 2.78 seconds and then he couldn't hold it back any longer. First, he grinned, then he started to giggle, and eventually he progressed to laughing so hard that he had to grasp on Mitch's wrist in order to not topple over.
Mitch only looked at his band mate with one carefully plugged eyebrow lifted up and said nothing.
After a few minutes Avi gained back his ability to breathe and talk properly. He looked at Mitch and said, "Mitchy, I'm so sorry for laughing, but I think it's hilarious. I mean, normally you wouldn't even consider the walk. You'd probably end up texting me at some point telling me to pick my stuff up by a certain time or else you'd throw it away. But you decided to walk... so, why didn't you just call me when it started to rain? Or why didn't you pull underneath an awning or something?"
Mitch just rolled his eyes. "Can I explain it to you after you get me a towel or do you want me to freeze to death? You'll never find someone who can replace me!"
Avi grinned. "Yes, yes. You know where the bathroom is. Help yourself. Take a shower if you want and I'll search for something for you to wear. And since I doubt you'll set only the tip of your toe outside this apartment in my clothes, I guess we'll have to wash and dry your stuff before you can go home?"
Mitch nodded. "Please and thank you."
"You're welcome, Mitchy."
While Mitch took his shower, Avi searched his whole closet for a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie that wouldn't fall off Mitch slender figure. He was lucky. He found a pair of pants Esther once forgot here and he knew that Mitch wasn't averse to wear an over-sized hoodie, so he grabbed the clothes and knocked on the bathroom door.
