"Indie?" I hear what must be Al. It's very faint though, so I can't be sure. I don't reply. I hope he will talk to Will, Ty or Winston. I want eavesdrop to figure out what is going on.
"Is she alive?" says Lynn, at least I think it's Lynn.
"She's breathing. Isn't it obvious that she is alive." says Ty, I think. Only he has sarcasm in a situation like this.
"Will knew she would live, that's why he stayed behind!" says Winston.
"We don't know half the stuff Will knew." says Al. Are they suggesting that Will is dead? I moan. I don't mean to but it sort of just comes out.
"Indie!!!" Al, Winston, and Ty shout.
"I knew you were alive!" says Ty relieved.
"I heard you talk about Will, what happened?" I ask.
"He held off Evelyn so we could save you." says Al.
"Do I get a special greeting?" asks Lynn.
"Lynn? You're here to? Is Tori here?" I ask.
"Yes. Yes. Yes." replies Lynn.
"I heard my name. What's going on?" says Tori.
"Tori!!!!" I say with glee.
"Your brother may be dead and you're happy to see me?" Asks Tori.
"Well, I'm not happy about that but I'm happy to see you!" I reply.
"Okay, well I'm happy to see that you're awake." Says Tori.
"Me too!" I say. As Tori and I talk, I see Winston lifting his nose and sniffing. Then I see Al and Ty do the same. My thoughts rush, and all I can think is trouble. I have no clue what they smell, it might be Will or another wolf. My thoughts scramble for the most pleasant thought. All I can think of is Will. That is my only happy thought.
"Wolves." is what I hear Ty finally say. Wolves I say in my head, not wolf but wolves. It's clearly not Will.
I put my nose to the sky and sniff. All I can make out is wolves. I'm not yet strong enough for all of my scent to come back. And that's when I feel it. My shoulder. The pain comes rushing back, and I let out a yelp.
The moving wolves outside of the den stop. I fear they've heard me. I fall silent. It's hard, but I manage. Al gives me a seriously-did-you-have-to-yelp-now sort of look. I just narrow my eyes. He looks back to the entrance just as a big black wolf enters. He doesn't growl. He doesn't do anything. He just stands there. Looking around. Then his eyes meet mine, and it's love at first sight. But that doesn't exist. So was it just us admiring each other? I'll never know. He's still staring at me when I turn away. I can't be falling for strangers. Not now, anyway.
Just then two tan wolves enter. A male and a female. I'm guessing that they are the black wolf's pups, but I could be wrong. I shouldn't feel comfortable with strange wolves near me, but I do. It's as though these ones are different.
When I finally decide to say something, Ty says something. "Who are you?" Ty asks.
"I am Dreamcatcher, this is my sister Ondalina." The black wolf says gesturing to the female. "And this is my brother, Qin."
"What do you want?" Asks Winston.
"We are looking to join a pack, or start one." Says Dreamcatcher.
I make a life changing decision when I say "You can join our pack", but it was instinct. I have to get to know Dreamcatcher.
