Chapter 54

AVA'S P.O.V

I opened my eyes quickly and looked around seeing I was in a room. It looked like a hospital room. I turned to see Chres sitting down, crying his eyes out. I didn't know why.

"What's wrong?", I asked. He didn't answer me. He just looked with a sympathetic look. "What happened?!" I sat up and as soon as I did, I didn't feel the weight I usually feel on my stomach. I looked down and felt that bulge that was there, wasn't there anymore. There was a bandage wrapped around it. That's when I started freaking out.

"WHERE'S MY BABY?", I yelled.

Chres put his head back into his hands and started crying even more. "He didn't make it."

"What do you mean he didn't make it?! Where is he??"

That's when the doctor walked in. "Im so sorry for your lost Mrs. August."

"Where. Is. My. Baby.", I repeated.

He sighed,"Hold on."

Chres looked back up,"Im so sorry Ava."

"So he's gone?", I asked. I couldn't stop the tears from running down my face.

"Yes.."

"Here you go", the doctor said handing me my baby.

He put my baby in my arms. He was wrapped in a blue blanket. When I moved the blanket from his face, he was covered in blood. Here I held his lifeless bloody body in my arms.

CHRES' P.O.V

"How did it all start?", the nurse asked.

Ava was on one of the hospital beds asleep. There were so many things hooked up to her. She stopped bleeding, which is good, but Im still worried about the baby. The doctor took an X-ray and all that so Im just waiting.

"Ava and this girl I used to know got into a fight", I said.

"And was Ava hit in her stomach in any way?"

"No.. Well, I didn't see her get hit in the stomach. Why? Is there something wrong with the baby??", I asked frantically.

"I don't know yet. We have to wait for the doctor to come back. It's uncommon but some pregnant women bleed during pregnancy. Hopefully, this is the case."

I felt a little more relieved hearing that. Now I just have to wait.

"Chres?", I heard Ava say. I turned back around and sat on the street next to her.

"I'll give you two a moment", the nurse said walking out of the room.

"Yes?"

"How's the baby?", she asked with her eyes still closed. She was still tired.

"I.. I don't know..."

Shw opened her eyes slowly," If I lose this baby, I don't know what Im going to do."

I shook my head,"You're not going to lose him okay? Stop saying that."

"Im sorry. Im just scar--" She suddenly stopped talking.

"What?"

"He moved!!", she yelled. "CHRES HE MOVED!"

She grabbed my hand, putting it on her stomach. I felt him kick and relief washed over me.

He's still alive.

"NURSE", I called out.

She came in almost immediately,"Yes?"

"The baby moved", I said smiling hard. I turned back to Ava and hugged her tight. "I told you it was gonna be okay."

I let go and the doctor came in. "Good news", he said. "The baby is perfectly fine. I still don't know what caused you to bleed. So we'll send you back home BUT you need to rest. Stay in bed for a while. Can you do that?"

I nodded quickly,"Yes she can."

"Great.. The nurse will get her ready and you come with me to sign her out."

"You're staying in the bed unless you need to use the bathroom or take a shower okay?", I said.

Ava has been in the bed for the 2 hours we've been home. She wants to get up already but I can't let that happen.

"I can't just sit here all day everyday.. Please don't make me do this", she begged.

"It's the doctors order", I said sliding in next to her on the bed. "I have to make sure that my wife is okay."

She faces me and looks me in the eyes, just staring at me.

"What?", I smiled.

"Do you remember when we went to see Turbo?"

I laughed,"Yes I do. Even though we didn't really watch it."

"You were crazy. Very crazy.. But it's okay cause I still love you", she said kissing the tip of my nose.

I poked my bottom lip out and puckered my lips. She came forward and gave me a peck. I frowned.

"Now what?", she laughed.

"Just a peck?"

She raised her eyebrows,"You know that if it went farther, we wouldn't have stopped. And I need rest right?"

"Yeah but--"

"'Doctors order'", she said mocking me. "Can I get up now?"

I sat up and rolled my eyes,"No. You're not getting up."

"But... But I have to pee. You're just gonna make me pee right here? You sleep in this bed too", she laughed.

"Fine."

She slowly got up and looked at me before sprinting out the door. I chased after her but I was too late. I knew she didn't have to use the bathroom. Where could a pregnant lady hide?

"Avaaaa", I called standing at the end of the hallway. "You better come out because if I find you, there will be consequences."

She came from the living room with her hands up. "Geez. You sound like my daddy."

"I am your daddy", I winked walking over to her. I grabbed her hands and pulled her close to me. "Sooo do you wanna show daddy some love?"

She laughed and looked up at me,"Okay.. Close your eyes.. And don't open them or you're not getting anything."

I did as she said and felt her hands unbutton my pants. As soon I started getting excited, she snatched her hands away and started laughing.

"You thought!", she laughed.

I opened my eyes and frowned,"If you weren't pregnant, if slam you into the wall and--"

"And do what?", she smirked and put her hand on her hip.

"Fuck you", I said.

She gasped,"Fuck me? No fuck you Chres! That's why I never joke around with you. You're always--"

"No no no babe. I meant fuck like, have sex. Not fuck you in a mean way", I explained running my hands down my face.

She started laughing again even louder,"I know! I just- HAHAHAHAHAHAH you thought I was serious? You're so gullible." She poked me in the stomach,"I just wanted to hear you say it."

"Say what?"

"Have sex with me", she smiled.

"Are you sure?? I mean you're supposed to be in bed and all", I joked.

"I was just repeating-- you know what. I'll go get in the bed", she groaned.

"Good girl."
