Winslow Rose
Then There Was One
⫷⫸
Winslow trained on her own seeing she lived far from the pack house. She lived with her grampa; dumped on him by her no good mother who had meaningless and unprotected sex at a young age.
Her birth father, as far as Winslow knew, did know about her but had no desire to take her to raise her either. So it was just her grandfather and her since she was a baby.
Her good for nothing mother had never been seen or heard from again after dumping her on her grandfather. He was getting old as was Winslow who was now 17.
Winslow shifted earlier than others, at age six due to a surprize meet and near attack on them by a black bear with cubs. The mother and cubs had wandered too close when Winslow and her grandfather were out gathering wood for their wood heater for winter.
The pack knew where they were located having seen them from time to time. They checked on them a few times a year where her grandfather was urged and would supply them a list of what was needed.

Having her wolf at a young age helped Winslow as together they grew stronger. Then when her grandfather took a fall and was hurt badly, she and her wolf braved the trek to seek out help.
She had dragged her grandfather home first, tried to heal him, but he needed more than her. So she used her senses and with vague descriptions, headed to the centre of the pack lands to locate the border patrol.
It took hours, but she found their well used path and let out a howl for help. She then found some clothes, she shifted back and dressed as she heard them coming.
She stood tall at 5'10", the clothes fitting her as she was strong, but her grandfather was taller and well built and she couldn't carry him for the long trek here.
So when the border patrol shifted into human, they stood before her naked. She turned and focused on the path back and told them who she was and that she needed a Doctor as her grandfather Winston had been hurt badly after a fall and needed help asap.
With their agreement to help, Winslow stripped and shifted to lead them back the way she came. With help from the border patrol, the pack Doctor was contacted seeing as the pack members couldn't carry her grandfather out either.
With the Doctor's arrival, her grandfather was checked over before he was injected, then the border patrol helped carry him to the nearby gravel road where others were waiting with a vehicle.
Winslow waved them off after promising her grandfather, she yes would be fine and would continue to gather the winter wood. That is what she did as she deeply worried about her grandfather's failing health.
She took a deep breath once they left, saddened really as she headed back home. She ate then went back out on her own now to finish gathering the wood.
She took all precautions now that she was alone. Gathering wood and when taking a break, started fishing to hang and smoke. She gathered the wood, split the wood and stocked piled it, filled the larder with enough smoked fish and canned some.
But a month later with no word, she shifted and grabbed some clothes and headed back to the border patrol to find out what was taking her grandfather so long from coming home.
She got to the path and howled then shifted and dressed as she waited up in a tall tree as she scented bears in the area. When the border patrol arrived, they scared off the bears and she yelled out her thanks, then swung down to the ground asking news about her grandfather Winston.
