“Need a hand, Yukiho?” The silver haired Kagari, with his ever mischievous face, looked down at the twin-tailed brunette who was slowly losing her balance while walking up the heavily-inclined hill they were climbing.

“Shut up, Slit-eyes, I can climb a hill myself.” Yukiho hissed at his attitude, taking full advantage of any chance to insult Kagari in the best way she knew how.

The two were making their way to the ‘City of Stages’, Armelia. For a world like theirs, were two types of people. On one end, stood the Prodigies that excelled in sciences or other specialties like creation or even martial arts. On the other end of the spectrum were the Espers whom possessed supernatural abilities. How they received these mysterious powers is a reason unknown to the general public.

They were dressed in rather casual clothing, one that would have easily passed them off as a couple. However, as much as they looked like they were going to spend and enjoy the day together, the ‘City of Stages’ was not a date location for any normal couple.

It was a place of high tension, where Prodigies and Espers from all around compete in highly-acclaimed combat sequences known as ‘Stages’ with a time limit or some form of condition, until one team wins. It was a legal battlefield, nefarious for the two different types of people pitting against one another to gather points.

The team which ends up accumulating a whopping total of one million points first shall be proclaimed as the winner and will be bestowed upon something special. Rumor has it, that this prize was the ability to both use Esper skills while retaining the techniques and intelligence of a prodigy, something of which, thus far, has been deemed impossible. Should it be possible, however, the first team to succeed would most likely be crowned as the first Hybrids of the world, and that is a heavily coveted title.

The pair had traveled for several days already, sparingly living off the rations they had brought with them for the long trip. After a hike that seemed to go on for ever, finally, their destination was within sight, roughly a kilometre away from their current position - Even before they climbed the hill.

They were mesmerised by the wondrous sight that beholds them. The horizon was riddled with forests, a small lake at the far northwest connected the lands with many rivers, and of course, the architecturally beautiful Armelia with a small floating island. From where they stood, they could see the three strikingly different districts: Business, Development and Gathering. What was unique about them was that they could only be traveled to one another by their own designated modes of transport.

The Business District was the area which could be considered a ceasefire zone - It was the area where travelers or participants would first enter and register for the tournament. The Business District was a place where the Espers and Prodigies were able to mutually coexist, to be able to shop, rest and even heal within the hospitals without the fear of someone backstabbing them. There were other facilities as well that covered the necessities of the many people that stop by, such as repair shops, libraries and odd-job stores which put up the errands of townsfolk and careless / clumsy non-citizens alike.

It could, ironically, be considered the place where tensions rose to the peak. Despite the ceasefire of combat in the area, there were no restrictions on the freedom of speech. As such, discrimination amongst the two sides was inevitable; That usually results in more heated, emotional and personal skirmishes during the 'Stages'.

The Development District was far more complex to get to, since it was 100 feet in the air. It could only be reached by airship should one lack any forms of flight. It was a unique place featuring a variable environment. Sometimes, it would become a forested area, while at other times it could be a junkyard full of scrap materials. An 'Irregular Randomized Field Generator' or IRFG, was in the core of the District, responsible for the altering biomes.
