You were not allowed to go to Toriel's house for a whole two week because of the smoke incident. You whined, throwing a fit over the fact that it's boring to stay in his home doing nothing. Grillby attempts to calm you down, but you were acting so childishly that it is only causing more trouble for him. He sometimes cannot bear it anymore suppressing his rage that just yelling at you made you learn a lesson or two. You stayed quiet after that not wanting to be yelled at again as you pouted.
Grillby was taking a day off from work on a Friday so he could able to be with more and keep an eye on you for your safety still. Grillby was insisting to Toriel that you would go shopping for groceries with them, taking a second thought about it, he later agrees on one condition. You must be in his sight at all times.
You got dressed and walked on the sidewalk to the store with everyone you have met before. It was nerve-racking for you, to see so many people scattered about and loud. It was strange, different from the asylum it's more open and colorful with the many odd objects aligned on every shelf of the market. All organized by purpose and type. Frisk was taking the lead ahead of the group with Undyne and Papyrus, while the rest are following behind.
You take the moment of seeing the many things that you have never seen; it's cute. There are other monsters there too. Grillby is at an aisle holding a few items trying to pick out which one he should buy. When he turned to see where you were, you were nowhere in sight. Again. He was about to facepalm himself knowing better that this will happen when he is not looking. He put back the products back, taking a search for you.
He was a the end of the aisle, and when he turned, you were there staring at something, causing him to jump startled by your sudden presence. Now he has found you, but what in the world you're so fixated on, "Y/N, what are you doing?" You pointed to where your focus is on. Grillby followed the direction it directs leading to Undyne and Papyrus who are arguing about which brand of spaghetti they should buy.
"..." Grillby does not know what to say about this. You were oblivious to what the topic is, but to your curiosity, it's interesting to see the two monsters arguing. The argument was stopped by Frisk presenting them a certain brand on which they both agreed on. "Heh, well called Frisk." Sans complimented Frisk, who gives a thumbs-up in return.
Grillby still recalled the moments he has with you. A smile would be sweet for a change; you're quite stiff on making expressions besides by overflowing emotions. "(Y/N)..." You shifted your attention to Grillby when he said your name. "Try, smile more often." You start to feel a jab in your gut when you heard those words. You nodded it off as if you understand looking away. "What I mean is, try to smile the time you have," Grillby implied.
You start to get shifty and uneasy about this. You're not sure if you want to the right now. You look back at Grillby and looked at something and back at him again then again a looking at a random object. The tension is building between both of you. Grillby's face filled with determination waiting, but you just want this just to stop and go back to his house.
The awkward meter starts to rise within less than a minute as each second passed by.
"..." No response from Grillby.
"..." No word came out from you.
Staring at each other, standing awkwardly. "Hey! What you two are up to, you're lagging behind!" Undyne came to get you both to catch up only to be greeted by this thick polluted air of awkwardness that roams in the silence. "..." Undyne infected by this caused the others to see was have happened. The whole group is quiet also engulf by this awkward, it seems.
Until a fine melodious voice came up. "Heeeeelllo my beauties! My, what with all the negative atmosphere? Well, don't worry I, Mettatton, is here to bring delight everyone!" The awkwardness suddenly erased by this voice you hear, to see a human-like robot. Your reaction was instead... in a 'wtf' surprised face.
Pink and gray is the main palette for his looks. He did get a few attention from the passing customers by his approach to the group. "METTATTON, DIDN'T EXPECT YOU TO BE HERE!" Papyrus, the first to reply to the robot. "Oh, heello Papyrus! I see you're shopping and-" The robot, Mettatton, stopped in the middle of his sentence when he sees an unfamiliar face in the group. That is you.
" My oh my! Look who we have here!" Mettatton is now in front of you holding both of your hands cupped together by his. "It's nice to meet you, darling. I'm Mettatton friends with Frisk and the others. May I ask what is your name?" You told him your name softly still weirded out by his immediate presence as he shakes your hands. Grillby, on the contrary, doesn't seem to like him how his actions are rather too close.
"My Papyrus! Why didn't you or the others tell me that you made a new friend!" Mettatton asked. "I dunno, it just didn't come in mind," Sans replied as Frisk shrugged.
"I DID. I SAID THERE'S ANOTHER HUMAN A FEW DAYS AGO EXPLAINING WHY THE HOUSE SMELLS LIKE BARBECUE."
"Oh..." Mettatton said, "It seems that I didn't catch a few words like for other during that time, but oh well! (Y/N) Why the long face, smile would you? Come on, try to smile for me." Mettatton seems to already like you as he tries to make you smile. Grillby is fuming at the background without you knowing it while Undyne and Alphys are telling Grillby to calm down.
(A/N: My apologies for the delays that have happened recently on the chapters. There was a test week before Thanksgiving break while I have to go to another state on a road trip with no connection or time during this week. Hope you understand, Reader.)
