Just A Boy

Chapter 2

I open the box slowly, flinching slightly as daft as it sounds. But I expected something to be...Moving in there. That's the thing with grandpa he likes to surprise people in the most unexpected ways. Instead I see a load of golden pieces that almost look as though they are supposed to turn into a puzzle. I pick the pieces up, looking at them. Immediately I take my duvet and sit on the floor. Placing each of the pieces on the duvet with me and I begin to connect the parts together. It's complicated. More complicated than I thought.

Deciding I need some help building the puzzle, I look in the box but there seems to be no instructions I frown slightly but instead grab my phone and type "golden puzzle together" I scroll for what feels like forever but nothing comes up. It makes me curious. Perhaps my grandfather felt this was a family heirloom that or perhaps this is one of a kind. Thinking something may happen with the item I open my bedroom door, it is silent so professor Hawkins must have headed home. I make my way down the stairs and to my grandfather.

"Gramps. What is the golden pieces you gave me? There are no instructions for it. In fact I cannot find anything that matches it at all." I say

"That's because it's a millennium item. Sit down my boy and I will tell you about the items." Grandpa says and I sit down on the sofa next to him.

"Five millenniums ago there was a pharaoh in charge of Egypt where evil was taken over by a dark being. In order for Egypt to have a way to be safe again the pharaoh created seven millennium items. When they were created the pharaoh died, causing his son to become pharaoh. The new pharaoh continued to try and wipe away evil. But in doing so he had to be in the millennium puzzle where he would be needed when evil is to come again. It is becoming closer to there been shadow games again. Therefore professor Hawkins and myself collected these items. Something told me that the millennium puzzle is made to be in your keeping. But be cautious Yugi. When the final piece is fitted the shadow games will begin again." Grandpa said, I sit stunned. Shadow games? What's that? I simply nod and make my way back up the
stairs. If evil and these 'shadow games' are surely coming back then I must get the puzzle done as fast as I possibly can.

I look to my duvet and at the pieces scattered across the floor. This will mean I need to focus and not get inpatient. If grandpa truly means the words he said that he feels the puzzle is destined to be with me then destiny will allow me to build the puzzle and protect the world from this evil my grandfather feels is going to come back when the millennium items do.
