Often seen as a similar dynamic as CG/L, (see previous chapter) Petplay involves a submissive who falls into a different headspace often resembling such if an animal, and a dominant often referred to as an "owner" or "master." Petplay is done both sexually and non sexually with the most comment headspace being one of a Kitten.
As stuffies or pacies may be exciting to a Little, Gear plays a similar role of excitement for a Pet. Gear may include leashes, collars, or anything else of the sort that helps the player further regress into said animal.
Some subs express Petplay as an escape, while others find the degradation and humiliation the most thrilling part. As most BDSM goes, the interest is different for ever Dom/Sub duo.
LimitUleashed describes pet behavior as being present when he submissive is "actively being the pet in kitten play, a submissive may meow, purr, curl up in a box, tease, scratch, teethe or bite/nip, and exhibit other kitten like behaviors. Meanwhile the Dominant will engage by playing with their kitten, give love and affection, train them, reward them for being good, and discipline them for being bad. Again, depending on the animalistic behaviors or traits adopted, those behaviors will emerge one way or another."
In other deep forms of subspace, Training may be involved. While a master may train his slave to follow orders, or a Mommy may train her Little to behave a certain way, an Owner may train their Pet to be hand fed, drink from a bowl, or perform special "tricks" that meet their desires.
Collaring tends to be a large part of Petplay. While collaring is also recognized and thought of highly in other Dom/Sub dynamics, it is most seen in petplay.
A BDSM-style collar with a D-ring, and buckles in the back. A collar is a device of any material worn by a person around the neck to indicate their submissive or slave status in a BDSM relationship. A person wearing a collar to symbolize their relationship with another is said to be collared. Some people conduct formal "collaring ceremonies," which are regarded as effectively solemnizing their relationship in a similar way as a marriage ceremony and the collar having similar significance as a wedding ring.
All and all, collaring is considered a huge step and important commitment in any BDSM relationship, and should not be done without careful thought and preparation.
