Stella's POV- February 2016

"What was the turnout on the midterm papers for you?"

I glanced up from the paper I was done reading and smiled.

"All of them turned it in" I said.

She raised an eyebrow.

"One of your students wasn't in class today though"

I nodded as I looked at the TA who I shared this office with, Eleanor. I'm pretty sure all her students hated her, and that was because she was incredibly strict. My 3 discussion classes consisted on freshmen and sophomores. The professor of this course knew how young I was and did not want her students and myself to feel intimidated.

"He had a family emergency, and he is dropping off a hard copy before 7PM" I told her.

"He's always sleeping in class, I would have failed him by now"

I shrugged and reached for the grading rubric. That was her, she didn't exactly know anything about him.

"Thanks for covering for me"

"You were sick, it would have been incredibly mean to make you come to campus" I stated.

She smiled.

"I owe you"

I nodded and went back to filling up the grading rubric.

"You're too nice, don't let the other TA's take advantage of you"

"I'll be fine" I said.

There was a knock on the door and I smiled as my student, Liam peaked into the room.

"Come on in" I told him.

He walked in and let out a deep breath.

"Thanks so much Stella"

I nodded as he slipped off his backpack.

"It's alright, how's your baby girl?" I asked.

He nodded and handed me his paper.

"I spent the whole day in urgent care, but she now has a cast on her right arm"

I nodded.

"I sent you today's notes" I told him.

"Thank you"

"No need to thank me" I stated.

I set the paper in the box with the papers I needed to grade.

"Jake told me there was a quiz today during discussion"

Discussions were mandatory.

"Come to my 11AM discussion tomorrow, and you can take it" I said.

He let out a sigh of relief and nodded.

"Go be with your daughter" I told him.

He smiled and nodded as he excused himself. As soon as he closed the door I heard a throat clear.

"I didn't know he had a daughter"

"She's 4 years old" I told Eleanor.

She nodded slowly.

"You're too lenient with him, he can't make up that quiz"

"I talked with Professor Resnik and she said he can" I said.

That shut her up.

"I should get something to eat"

I looked at the time and nodded, she had 45 minutes until her discussion class started.

"Want anything?"

I shook my head.

"No thank you, thanks though" I told her.

She nodded and grabbed her purse. I let out a sigh once she was gone and added up the final score for the paper. I was not alone for long; the door opened a minute later.

"You know there is a thing called knocking" I pointed out.

Joshua, another TA nodded slowly.

"I need a favor"

He just goes straight to the point.

"Go on" I told him,

"Can you cover next Monday for me?"

"Sure" I said.

He let out a sigh of relief.

"Thanks, I owe you"

I nodded.

"Go away now" I said.

He chuckled and turned around when the door opened.

"You're out early" I stated.

Anthony nodded.

"Yeah, lab ran short today. Ready to go?"

"Yeah, just let me finish grading this paper" I told him.

He nodded and stepped aside as Josh made his way out.

"Why was he here?"

"Asked if I could cover on Monday for him" I said.

"You should've said no"

I stood up and shrugged as he pulled up a chair in front of the desk.

"He owes me now" I told him.

"When exactly are you going to use these I owe you's?"

"The beginning of March" I stated.

He raised an eyebrow and hummed.

"Duh, spring training. Your dad got you tickets"

I nodded.

"Does Trayce know?"

"Yeah, he already asked my dad if he could take me out to dinner" I said.

"Trayce getting some brownie points from your dad"

I shrugged and he smiled.

"Hurry up and grade that paper, I'm starving"
