A couple weeks passed without anything eventful. I was happy. That's all that mattered to me. Mattie seemed happy too.
One day, Mattie approached me on the bench outside our school.
"Hey, baby." He said softly as he bent down to kiss me.
"Hey. What's up?"
"I wanted to ask you, do you want to go to a party. It's my friend Trey's, and it's on Friday. I didn't want you to be alone..."
"Okay, it's cool. What time you wanna pick me up?"
"Is seven good?"
"Mmhm. See you then."
"Kay baby. Bye."
We kissed and he left for his house. I stayed on the bench and waited for the sun to set to finally get up and go.
