(one-shot for Christmas main pairing Ness x Lucas originally for a writing contest now just a fun one-shot for the sake of me finishing it. never trust me to meet contest deadlines XD the song they danced to is called Faraway by Nickelback)
It was the day of the Winter dance. The residents of the smash mansion were in their rooms getting ready for the occasion. the Winter dance, biggest event of the year at the mansion nearly everyone attends save for Kitty, Arial, Donkey kong and Yoshi. It took place the following week after Christmas always the same day that it was on that year.
"Kitty you should come with us it'll be fun." said the godlike fox boy, who goes by the name of Skylar
"Yea,h you say that now but, you know that when I go everyone will scream in terror." Kitty replied she wasn't wrong, everyone would freak out if she went. Arial would end up absorbing someone, who accidentally touched his cloak.
-A few hours later-
the dance had finally started Ness was nervous about asking Lucas to dance but, he knew that it would be fun. Sure they were together but, Ness was kinda shy about dancing with Lucas in public or in general. He wasn't the best dancer so when he saw Lucas, who moved gracefully and elegantly with each light step he took it made him self conscious about it.
"Ness c'mon let's go Skylar and Lucas are waiting for us." Toon Link said while dragging Ness through the door and over to Skylar and Lucas
"Hi, Toonie," Skylar said as Him and Lucas sat at the table waiting for their boyfriends to sit down. The two sat down across from their dates and they all started chatting. After, a little while a song that Toon and Skylar loved started playing so they got up and went dancing.
"Well now, what do we do Ness?" Lucas asked Ness obviously curious as to what he had planned
"I was sort of hoping to chat for a bit more." Ness had absolutely nothing planned usually Lucas had the ideas for their dates; he was mostly trying to avoid dancing at all costs. Toon Link and Skylar came back after a few songs carrying two trays with drinks and snacks for the four of them.
"Were back." Skylar stumbled and the tray he was carrying had landed perfectly on the table, once again he had broken logic. Toon set his tray down on the table and helped Skylar up.
"Are you okay?" Skylar dusted himself off and replied with a simple
"Yeah." before he sat down again. They sat for a while chatted and laughed about things that had happened to them.
".....And then he told me that it seemed that my stitch work was messed up." Skylar finished causing them all to burst out laughing
"That must have been a very odd day for you, Skylar," Ness said
"Not as weird as the day when we all went out for ice cream and met Riley, Arial, Sky and Kitty." Toon Link said
"Wasn't that the day Skylar stabbed Link with a Fork?" Ness asked laughing
"Yup that was also the day we met Kitty and she threatened to kill me because of my puns." the group started laughing again recalling that very fucked up day
[it was actually a part of a smashing addition if any of you remember that three chapter story arc for introduction also i may be killing off Sky soon in that for another ship I want to add and for new characters.]
They sat telling stories of the past remembering the messed up things that happened to them.
"Hey remember the day we all met." Toon Link said with a sigh
"Yeah that was the day we got together and you found out I was a fox," Skylar said with a grin
"Well, I already knew because actually played Undertale and knew about your multiple forms and high LV." Toon Link replied
"Why does it seem that you two were created for each other at times," Ness said pretending to gag
[although none of them have gag reflexes in the series]
"Hey shut up Ness it's the same with you and Lucas so it's pointless to act as if you are going to vomit." This was how they got at times. They stopped because of a slow song being played Toon offered Skylar his hand and they got up and danced. "Do you wanna d-dance Ness?" Lucas stuttered halfway through his question. Ness' face was red but, he replied with a barely audible "yes." The two got up and they danced it was nowhere near as graceful as Skylar and Toon Link but, it wasn't bad. They danced for a few songs before one that was familiar came on and Ness began to sing:

As the final notes of the song faded out they kissed signalling just how much they loved each other. How they were meant to be together and how they were perfect as they were. It was a beautiful way to end a magical night full of music, friendship and love.
