You asked me why—why must they always attempt to dim all that shines the brightest?
Well, my dear, haven't you ever wondered why the stars could only be seen at night? It was because they could only ever shine when the sun, the brightest star of all, was out of sight. The sun alone has the power to differentiate between night and day, to turn a black sky blue and to drown out everything that is less brilliant. In a galaxy where people replace stars, you would be the sun; and the nighttime would be the only thing allowing everything that is inferior to breathe while the sun sleeps.
