“Hi I’d like to buy these.” That was an awkward thing to say. But the lady at the counter wasn’t looking at me.

Beep.

He was at the other counter.

Beep.

Green eyes and a smile wider than the Niagara falls.

Beep.

Headphones around his neck and jeans loose on his hips.

Beep.

Brown hair getting in his eyes and torn up old shoes.

Beep.

He turned my way. I think he saw me.

Beep.

He hasn’t looked away.

“Would you like a plastic buy?” The lady at the counter said.

“Yes please.” Chin up and smile the best smile you’ve ever given a counter lady.

And look like a screw up while trying to find your wallet.

“Thank you,” At least be polite after taking so much of her time.

He was gorgeous. Did he see me? Of course he did you idiot. He was looking at you. I wished I’d got to know him.

“Excuse me?” A voice.

I could have said hello. Or smiled at him.

“Hey!” He’s right in front of me.

“Um hi?” This is a little weird.

“You left your  Ice- cream.” Oh fuck.

“Thank you! So much….” But I remember putting it in the bag.

“It’s no problem, Bye!” He smiled that dazzling smile of his.

“Bye.”

He’s walking away. Hands in his back pocket.

He turned around. He runs his hand through his hair and smiles a sheepish smile.

“Is it okay if I called you?” He asks.

“You don’t have my number.” I smile, maybe I’m not the only forgetful one here.

“I was hoping you’d change that.” He smiled that dazzling smile of his.

I ended up with two ice-cream packs.
